Description
Impressive extended and renovated three double bedroom semi-detached bay-fronted Victorian house with off-street parking, and a smart and sunny landscaped garden of over 40 feet.
Owned by an interior-designer, the house has had an expert eye designing and overseeing its recent architectural-treatment and refurbishment. Lucky you! There is scope to extend into the loft also.
Find your new home just a nine minute walk from Nunhead Station, and closer still to Nunhead Green Conservation Area (Nunhead Lane is just at the end of your street), which takes in Nunhead's well-stocked independent high street and village-style green.
Queens Road Peckham Station is a 15 minute walk and Peckham Rye Station is yours in 16. Peckham Rye Park and Common is also a short walk.
On the ground floor let's begin with the stupendous main reception room to the rear of the house. It is over 22 feet by nearly 15 feet, with underfloor heating (under the beautifully-laid herringboned clay-bricked floor), and cool custom-made shelving and storage running along the interior wall.
This room is wonderfully heavy on the glazing. Just gorgeous! A trio of slim-profile glazed doors fold open at the foot of the room onto the walled garden; which is low-maintenance, pleasingly enjoys a favourable south-westerly orientation, and neighbours a really attractive converted chapel (of just four residences).
A neat utility room and guest w.c. further feature, then you have your kitchen in the centre/heart of the home, with a classic big ceramic Butler sink and a central island - perfect for chatting while you tend to pots and pans (on your smart induction hob). Timeless Shaker-style units in a pleasing blue hue are topped with lavish marble worktops.
A second reception space (a natural dining area) is set to the front of the house. Your table and chairs will work so well in front of the big bay window here, for casual through to formal dining.
On the first floor you have a double bedroom to the rear of the house; this one is over 10 feet by nearly 10 feet, with a built-in wardrobe. The boiler is housed in the corner of the room next to the wardrobe (tucked away neatly in a custom-made cupboard).
Next door is the property's windowed bathroom - this is a luxury affair in on-trend dusky pink, and has both a free-standing bath and an independent walk-in shower. Monochrome detailing impresses. Marble further features atop the wash stand and to the walls in the shower area.
Your second bedroom is currently set up as a glorious kids' bedroom (of over 10 feet by over 9 feet) with hand-painted walls. A pale carpet is underfoot.
Your pleasing master bedroom spans the front of the house. It is over 15 feet by nearly 14 feet, with slimline radiators (one horizontal, one vertical) and a pale carpet again.
Nunhead Station has London Victoria trains and Thameslink trains as well (Farringdon, Blackfriars and King's Cross). It also puts on an impressive skyline view from the platform
Or you can walk to Queens Road Peckham station (15 minutes) or Peckham Rye Station (16) for London Overground services and Southern trains (all three stations are Fare Zone 2). Canary Wharf is easy via Canada Water, also destinations such as Clapham Junction or Shoreditch High Street.
Nunhead has a relaxed feel, with central green, playground and community centre (by AOC architects), and excellent established staples which include Ayres Bakery and Soper's Fishmongers. Popular businesses include Mother Superior, El Vermut, Goodcup (and Goodnights), Kudu Grill and BAR D4100. The Old Nun's Head, Skehan's and The Earl of Derby are fab locals pubs.
Central Peckham/Rye Lane is a 15 minute walk, for such delights as Peckham Levels, and The Bussey Building & Copeland Park complex, plus Market Building. Walk a further five minutes to Bellenden Road, with its independent high street and lovely shops, cafes and restaurants like Artusi, Ganapati, Flock & Herd and Review book store.
It is but a short stroll to Telegraph Hill's gorgeous parks with views and a weekly Farmers' Market (Saturdays from 10am) and also Peckham Rye Park and Common's 113 acres.
More locally, Nunhead Cemetery is a beautiful Victorian one - one of 'The Magnificent Seven' - with organised tours, and beautiful big trees and views!
For more options, Camberwell, East Dulwich and Brockley are all a short journey.
