The East Hampshire village of Upper Wield lies on high ground above the Candover Valley between the villages of Medstead, and Preston Candover. Both have village shops as well as primary schools. Upper Wield itself is set around an attractive green with a hall. The Georgian market town of Alresford lies about 6 miles to the south-west and provides a wide range of independent shops and restaurants. Alton is about 8 ½ miles to the east and the village is equidistant between Basingstoke (about 10 miles) and the cathedral city of Winchester (about 13 miles).
The M3 (J7) is about 8 miles away. There are mainline stations at Basingstoke (London Waterloo from 44 minutes), Micheldever (London Waterloo from 63 minutes) and Winchester (London Waterloo from 58 minutes). The M3, A31, A3, A34 and A303 are all easily accessible.
There are a number of excellent independent schools in the area, which include The Pilgrims' School, Princes Mead, Alton School, Lord Wandsworth College, Bedales, Cheam, Twyford, Winchester College and St Swithun’s School for Girls.
