Description
Littlebeck, as it is known, is a double-fronted stone and pantile cottage overlooking the village stream along a 'no through' lane just off the main village street in Lastingham. The cottage faces east/west and has a good-sized garden that enjoys plenty of sunshine and adjoins open fields on its furthest boundary.
The cottage has a date stone of 1867 and back then, it might well have comprised a modest two up/two down property. But during the passage of time it has altered greatly with the addition of a two-storey extension across the entire western elevation in order to create more substantial living space conducive to today's lifestyles.
The interior is superbly presented with a welcoming sitting room having a log burning stove and French glazed doors leading through to a garden room with a lovely, private outlook. The kitchen is fitted with a good range of wall and base units, oak worktops and an integrated dishwasher. A separate dining room, cloakroom and useful rear porch complete the ground floor accommodation. On the first floor a light and airy landing has doors leading off to three good size
bedrooms (one currently used as a study) plus a well-appointed shower room.
Adjoining the cottage is a single garage with electricity connected plus additional parking on the adjacent private drive. Immediately to the rear of the cottage is a sheltered, flagged patio with steps leading up to a raised lawn. The borders are packed with a variety of flowering plants and shrubs and within the garden is a garden shed (insulated and with electricity connected) plus two smaller stone outhouses, ideal for storing gardening equipment and outdoorsy 'stuff'.

The pretty village of Lastingham is one of those rather special, sought-after villages quietly tucked away in the bottom of a wooded valley at the foot of the North York Moors National Park. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are many peaceful walks and scenic views over woodland and moors virtually on the doorstep. The nearby market towns of Pickering and Kirkbymoorside are within a 15 minute drive and offer an excellent range of local shopping facilities. The village itself has little in the way of amenity but as an excellent compromise has a great village pub, a church if you prefer and a well-respected hotel that provides, amongst other things, delicious Cream teas.
