Description
Another great opportunity for someone to own a little piece of Corsham history. This quirky Victorian cottage is located in PIckwick on the fringes of Corsham, yet walking distance to local amenities. The property is larger then expected and in move in condition but with the ability to improve further and make your home.
Approaching the cottage from the A4, there is a large gravel driveway and a garage to the side where the neighbours also have parking and garages as well. Naturally, you are drawn to access the property from the rear and a side gate brings you through the neighbouring garden of 57 (access rights apply) where a stable door into the kitchen area gives convenient access. As you step in, a large utility room with WC offers an convenient place for a laundry and coats storage. The kitchen opens up further with space for appliances and a door through into the main living area. A couple of steps down and you are in the spacious sitting room. There is space for a variety of seating options, and the two double glazed windows ensure there is a good amount of natural light. A front door also gives you another option to access the cottage. In addition the stairs rise up on one side and a useful bolt hole store cupboard offers additional storage. Unexpectedly, a door opens into a 2nd reception room which would make a lovely study or dining room, hobby workroom or 2nd TV space.
Upstairs and the main bedroom is a comfortable double bedroom and also has a cupboard housing the boiler and offering some storage. The 2nd bedroom is then accessed from bedroom 1 and so would also make a wonderful dressing room if you'd prefer. Bedroom 3 is located up a couple of small steps towards the rear and also has some built in storage. Although this room could accommodate a double bed at a squeeze, it is perfectly suited to a study with an occasional fold out bed. The only potential problem is getting much work done when you can watch the wildlife in the fields behind your garden. A modern white suite with vanity units and shower over the bath completes this floor.
*AGENTS NOTE* The Second Bedroom provides access into the third bedroom, which would not satisfy modern day building regulations. However, when the property was built with this design this would have been an acceptable layout to satisfy the necessary regulations at the time. Should you desire more privacy and to comply more with modern day building regulations, a stud wall could be erected to create a corridor to provide access between the landing and bedroom three directly
Outside is a pretty cottage garden, surrounded by mature shrubs. A paved area offers a shady place to sit next to the cottage, a central lawn is framed by shrubs and borders, and as you are backing onto fields, this garden is a lovely place to relax. Through the pedestrian path alongside no 57 and you walk out onto a gravel drive and single garage which is most unusual for a bedroom cottage ! A real bonus indeed.
The location of this cottage is just off the main A4 which gives really convenient access to Bath and Chippenham via car, but also via the regular bus routes which pick up close by! You could even walk less than 1/2 mile to the coach pick up point to give a quick and affordable route in to London. More locally, there is a local pub, The Hare and Hounds which offers food and drink and a pretty beer garden, a convenience shop within the garage next door to the pub and then a little further on you have all the amenities you need in Corsham town. Join the peacocks wandering the high street and check out the range of independent shops and eateries or enjoy some sports at The Springfield campus. For walking, there are countryside walks with a nature reserve just around the corner and cycle routes into the villages surrounding this pretty town. The mainline rail station located in Chippenham provides a route to London Paddington in around an hour or Bristol in around 30 minutes.
Agents note: There is a planning application in for the fields behind which was rejected in 2021, but has now re surfaced. The plans indicate a large buffer of green space directly behind the 3 cottages. Purchasers will need to be aware that this is still only proposed and not yet agreed at the time of marketing.
