Freehold
Description
Beautiful double-fronted three bed, two bath detached house with side access and a south-east facing mature garden of over 70 feet, complete with a garden studio/bonus bedroom suite. Parking is unrestricted on the street. Chain free.
Your delightful dream principal (or second/additional) home is located on a quiet back street in wonderful Whitstable - betwixt the mainline station and the beach (walk 10 minutes to these). The average journey time from London Victoria to Whitstable is 1 hour 20 minutes.
The house enjoys excellent light throughout the day, and the rear garden delivers day-long sun. You will also enjoy many Victorian features - including a pair of big bay windows to the front of the house, period fireplaces, stripped (and painted) floors, sash windows, high ceilings - we could go on (and we will!). It is also an up to date C21st home which has been sensitively and thoughtfully renovated, updated and maintained by the current owner.
From your front door, your stairs lead up ahead. A right turn has you in a big and bright double-aspect reception room, of over 13 feet by over 11 feet, with built-in shelving to one alcove. As throughout, crisp white walls feature - showing off the fab natural light.
To your left of the hall is a second reception (the same size as the first, but this time with a wood-burner and slate hearth, built-in alcove shelves and an alcove cupboard). This reception is open-plan to the large, light and double-aspect kitchen/dining room, of 18 feet by over 14 feet. Your Shaker-style kitchen units are teamed with always-on-trend wooden worktops, brick-style wall tiles, and a big ceramic Butler sink. Slate tiles grace the floor, and you also have T&G detailing (to the wall which has your side door), and a big storage cupboard for the vacuum cleaner, ironing board etc.
Timber-framed glazed French doors lead out beyond the dining area to the gorgeous garden. This is well-established with year-round interest. You will also find a garden studio out here - it is a brilliant guest suite, with space for a double bed and a private shower room. It would work equally well as a home office or home gym. Double-glazed double-doors take advantage of the sunny orientation. A mirrored cupboard/wardrobe completes matters.
Back inside and up the stairs you have two good double bedrooms to your left and right, above your front receptions. Both have a custom-made alcove wardrobe, and one has a generous en suite shower room with sanitary ware and fittings in a contemporary style, and large profile tiling.
Directly ahead at the top of the stairs is your third bedroom (of over 17 feet by over 9 feet). This room is big on the painted timber and glazing; the latter letting you admire the garden or the stars!
Off this room you have the main bathroom - which has a sash window to garden views and a traditional-style sanitary suite which includes a free-standing roll-top bath (with 'telephone' taps and mixer). More T&G brings on the smiles.
Whitstable is not just about its (fabulous and famous) oysters! It is a fun working town for locals and tourists alike, with engaging local history and architecture. Whitstable Harbour is a gorgeous spot for a people-watch.
Many of your local restaurants are first-rate. Some of our favourites include Whitstable Oyster Company, The Hotel Continental (these first two with sea views!), Samphire, Harbour Street Tapas and Thirty Nine Whitstable. Wheelers Oyster Bar is the oldest (and most colourful) venue in town for fresh oysters. For fish and chips (fresh to order, bien sur), it has to be Ossie's. Both of these are on the high street.
The high street? Is such a pretty one, delivering all your essentials (banks, chemists etc.) plus cute cafes, bakeries, charity, gift and boutique shops as well. Pubs are plentiful locally as well. The most popular probably being The Neptune Inn - which pleasingly sits right on the beach!
For further options, explore the whole Kent Coast with ease by rail or car: Margate is just 18 minutes by train, Broadstairs is 24, Ramsgste is 32. Historic Canterbury is also close - here, find Roman walls, cobbled streets and timber-framed houses in the medieval centre, and of course Canterbury Cathedral. Gothic and Romanesque elements hugely impress.
