Lagos is a town in southern Portugal's Algarve region. It’s known for its walled old town, cliffs and Atlantic beaches. Steep wooden steps lead to the sandy cove of Praia do Camilo. The nearby cliffs of Ponta de Piedade offer sweeping headland views and a lighthouse. Igreja de Santo António, an ornate 18th-century church, sits across from the Castelo dos Governadores, a castle with a baroque facade and watchtowers.
Porto de Mos Beach is surrounded by two high cliffs on both sides. This makes it a very scenic beach.
The sand here is fine and golden. It feels nice on the feet. The water is clean, very clear and not too cold. It is situated to the west of Ponta da Piedade, unlike most of the other beaches of Lagos. Ponta da Piedade acts as a natural defense against the waves from the southwest.
Lagos is some 45minutes drive on the main A22 Algarve Motorway from Faro International Airport.
