Description

An excellent family home with development potential

Description

Highways is a substantial home that was constructed in the 1960s. The property occupies an enviable plot surrounded by lush green lawns and mature gardens with open views.
Two stone walls give a sense of arrival and access to a long driveway that approaches the property and the main entrance of the home. This has been well planned to include ample parking both externally and internally with garage parking for two cars.

The principal accommodation is versatile and extends to approximately 2192 sq ft over three floors including the garage. Four well-proportioned bedrooms are spread across the first and second floor with the living room offering impressive views over the valley. The well-appointed kitchen has a range of built in cabinetry with access to the morning room/conservatory and a handy utility room. The study and family bathroom complete the accommodation.

The garden and grounds surrounding Highways are extensive at just under an acre in size with a large expanse of lawn bordered by a wide variety of mature trees and shrubs. The fantastic plot is well positioned to enjoy the surrounding countryside and is perfect for development.

As previously mentioned, the internal double garage offers excellent storage, parking or potential to extend. Additionally a workshop is located off the garage and cellar and attic offer excellent storage.

Location

Highways has a lovely setting amidst unspoilt countryside sitting alongside Scotland’s first National Park. The surrounding area offers some of Scotland’s finest scenery, including Loch Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. Loch Lomond is crossed by the Highland boundary fault and the physical characteristics of lowland and highland Scotland can be seen within a few miles of each other. The property lies to the north west of Drymen, a charming conservation village with its own primary school, village shops, pubs, hotels and post office.

The area is well placed for commuting to Glasgow (18 miles), Glasgow Airport (22 miles) and Edinburgh Airport (50 miles). There is a rail service from Balloch Station to Glasgow. There are a number of acclaimed private schools within the city boundary, including Glasgow High School, Glasgow Academy and Kelvinside Academy. Balfron High School (6.3 miles) and Kelvinside High School can both be accessed via bus links from the village. Lomond School in Helensburgh (17.5 miles) also provides schooling for both day pupils and boarders.

For sports enthusiasts the great outdoors awaits. There is superb hill walking and climbing in the area. The Arrochar Alps include four Munros (mountains over 3000ft) and six Corbetts, the best known of which is the Cobbler. The West Highland Way, Rob Roy Way and all that the Queen Elizabeth Forest has to offer can be accessed straight from the door without crossing a road, perfect for all outdoor pursuits young and old. There are a number of well-respected golf courses in the area including the internationally acclaimed Loch Lomond Golf Club. Other golf courses include Strathendrick, Buchanan Castle, Hilton Park and Milngavie Golf Club.
