Seller Insight
“Ten years ago, we discovered this charming cottage in the heart of the market town of Grantham and from the moment we stepped inside we knew this was the one as it was such a warm and welcoming home; it has been one of the best decisions we have made.”

"Having always lived in the countryside, we found the location was perfect. The front of the house overlooks the beautiful parkland of Wyndham Park which is a Green Heritage Site and to the rear we have the most beautiful, private gardens. Grantham station is just a mile away and the A1 3 miles away so it’s incredibly easy to get anywhere. We feel like we truly have the best of both worlds.”

“We believe Seven Stars was originally a Coaching Inn, run by a gentleman namely William Poole during the time 1851-1861, hence the name Seven Stars Inn. Formerly two cottages, it is often described as a tardis as being deceptively spacious and provides so many unique and wonderful spaces to entertain, relax and enjoy. It has been important to us to retain and respect the original features throughout the property such as the exposed beams, stone walls and fireplaces thus we have carefully made sympathetic improvements.”

“We have taken great pride in maintaining Seven Stars, it has been imperative to blend the timeless character of the property with the practical needs of today; just this year we have upgraded the family bathroom. We have also upgraded the kitchen, boot room and have added the double glazed timber French doors to the drawing room, creating a wonderful connection with the courtyard garden.”

“The garden has been a real labour of love for me, transformed through planting a wide range of shrubs, trees and perennials which change and shift with the seasons to provide year round joy. The gardens burst into life in spring with narcissus and bluebells, with wisteria gracefully winding along the stone and brick walls, before summer arrives in a riot of beautiful colours. In autumn we embrace the vibrant orange and reds which lead into the delicate winter beauty of snowdrops, aconites and tightly clipped topiary.”

“The rear courtyard garden is gracefully framed by the fragrant wisteria where during the summer months, we dine outside most evenings as it’s such a sunny and sheltered spot. Having doors from both the kitchen and drawing room allows both comfort and ease. The old stone steps lead up onto the lawn and gardens, all enclosed by hedging so it’s very private. The Summer house is the most enchanting place to sit and enjoy the view of the larger lawned garden, with glimpses of hidden areas beyond the borders.

“It is difficult to pick a favourite part of the house as we are spoilt for choice but the kitchen is the real heart of our home and the open views from the windows are such a delight. Outside, the sunken garden, formerly a swimming pool, which sits along side of the brick garage has created a fabulous space for entertaining. We added timber doors to the garage, so part of it can be used to store the garden furniture, firepit and BBQ and added a drinks fridge so everything you need is there. I also planted six varieties of roses within each of the formal box hedging. The delicate frothy blooms spill over the neatly clipped hedged to form a striking contrast, adding interest and fragrance to the space.

Each year both the house and gardens grow more beautiful.”
