251 Culkein is situated on the remote coast of northwest Sutherland surrounded by natural beauty. It is ideally situated to provide mountaineering, excellent coastal walks, fishing, geology, kayaking, etc as well as enjoyment of the abundant flora & fauna in the area.

The property is on the Assynt Peninsula which has a spectacular coastline and many magnificent mountains as well as some 240 lochs which provide some wonderful wild brown trout fishing (by permit). The area has white sandy beaches and rock pools with the most famous being Achmelvich with its sand dunes and turquoise waters. A sandy beach is within walking distance of the cottage and there is a popular coast path to the Old Man of Stoer. There are many facilities in Lochinver, the main village of Assynt. Lochinver provides a range of services including shops, school, medical services, leisure centre and good quality restaurants.

Ullapool, some 44 miles away, has a wider range of shops, a supermarket, restaurants, pubs and hotels and is the main ferry terminus to Stornoway. The city of Inverness is about 95 miles to the south and has a greater variety of facilities including modern shopping centres, a theatre, hotels and restaurants, cinemas and the main railway station. Inverness Airport has a variety of services to i destinations both domestic and abroad.

From Ullapool take the A835 north. At the Ledmore Junction turn left on to the A837 signposted Lochinver. After 17 miles turn right onto the B869 signposted Stoer. Follow the single-track road for 7 miles until you reach Stoer.
Travel through Stoer and take the road to the Stoer Lighthouse. Follow this road and the signs for The Jammery until you can see the beach and then turn left continuing to follow the signs for The Jammery and the property is on the left-hand side at the end of an access track.
