Portlethen, the nearest large settlement, is a town located approximately 7 miles south of Aberdeen, along the A92. The population according to the 2022 census was 8,969 making it the seventh most populous settlement within Aberdeenshire. The town is more like a suburb of Aberdeen, with access to the city within a short drive or by public transport. The town has a fascinating history. Also, James Graham 1st Marquess of Montrose and William Keith, 7th Earl Marischal led a Covenanter 9000-strong army to the first battle of the Civil War in 1639. The beach and Portlethen harbour are approximately a 15 minute drive from the plot.
