The house was built in the 19th Century and is Listed Grade II as being of architectural and historic importance. Originally it formed part of the Portman estate and is one of a series of similar houses in White Cliff Mill Street.
It has many interesting and original features including tall sash windows, egg and dart cornicing, some original fireplaces, period style cast iron radiators, cellar, folding or sash shutters, panelled doors, dado rail, picture rail and some wall panelling in the drawing room.
The Kitchen comprises a range of modern units with Belfast sink, terracotta floor tiles and a range cooker, white sanitary ware in both shower and bathroom. The cellar has been converted into a useful Home Office.
The original servant's staircase is accessed from the Kitchen while the main Hall has an imposing staircase with open balustrade and polished handrail complimented by the tall window overlooking the garden. The house now represents ideal spacious and versatile family accommodation, alternatively the house will appeal to active retired or professional buyers who will like the convenience of town living.
GARDENS
The front is mainly gravel, flagstone path to the central front door and close cut hedge boundary. Parking in front of the Timber Garage (with original carriage rails). Gravelled courtyard with high wall boundary. Flower border. The walled rear garden is a special feature, laid to lawn with wide and well stocked herbaceous borders on either side with a gravelled seating area close to the house.
The far section has been landscaped to provide a modern interpretation of a Victorian knot and parterre Kitchen garden, rustic trelliswork and three gates screen this area, sectioned into six triangular raised beds with box edging. Gravelled paths and further raised fruit and vegetable beds which include strawberry, cultivated raspberry, gooseberry and rhubarb. A variety of standard, rambling and climbing rose, wisteria, clematis and honeysuckle scramble over arches, trellis and walls. Glorious gnarled old apple tree and further trees including fig and pear complete this sheltered and tranquil area. Timber shed and lean-to-store.
A popular market town, Blandford is famed for its classic architecture, bustling market square and one of the finest Georgian churches outside London, and there are services and amenities for every one's day to day needs including an M&S Food Hall and Tesco and Lidl superstores. There are lots of good opportunities for sport and recreation in the area. Kingston Lacy & Badbury Rings (National Trust), the New Forest and Cranborne Chase are all nearby, as well as sailing and water sports in Poole Harbour and Studland Bay, and Dorset's renowned Jurassic coastline is less than 45 minutes away by car.
