Newton Leys
Newton Leys is a modern development with a rich history, with roots tracing back to the Iron Age. In more recent history, it was home to the Newton Longville Brickworks, which operated from the late 19th century until its closure in 1978. Following the closure, an old clay pit was transformed into Jubilee Lake, now known as Willow Lake, which is a standout feature of the area.
Situated at the southern tip of Bletchley, Newton Leys spans both the Borough of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury Vale. Its location near the A4146 and A5 provides excellent connectivity to Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard, and the M1. For rail travel, both Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard train stations offer direct services to London Euston.
Newton Leys Primary School, which opened in 2016, caters to children from nursery age (3 years) through Year 6 (11 years). Many families also benefit from the proximity to Aylesbury’s grammar schools, approximately 11 miles away, for secondary education.
In 2017, the Newton Leys District Centre was established, offering a variety of local amenities, including a Costa Coffee, a Chinese takeaway, a fish and chip shop, a dry cleaner, a hair salon, and an 8,000 sq. ft. Asda supermarket. In April 2019, the Turing Key pub opened, quickly becoming a community hub. Nearby, several charming village pubs, such as The Three Locks in Stoke Hammond, The Crooked Billet in Newton Longville, and The Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne, add to the area’s appeal.
