Description

SITUATION Sebright Farm is situated in the desirable hamlet of Blakeshall just outside the historic village of Wolverley. Nikolaus Pevsner in his book, The Buildings of England Worcestershire, refers to Wolverley "as perhaps the village with the most personal character in the county". The village provides a range of local amenities including a café, imposing St John the Baptist 1770 church and the Wolverley Secondary CE School. The centre of the village consists of some wonderful historic buildings of the School founded by William Sebright. Lying on one side of the village is the Staffordshire/Worcestershire canal and the splendid Bodenham Arboretum is about 2 miles distant. Further nearby schools including Old Swinford Hospital School in Stourbridge and Heathfield School closer by just outside Wolverley.

The very popular and well served villages of Cookley and Kinver are a short driving distance away.

The property is very well placed to access the large Wyre Forest town of Kidderminster with rail access to Birmingham, London, Stourbridge and Worcester.

There is M5 motorway access via junction 3 at Quinton, 4 at Lydiate Ash and 5 at Wychbold.

DESCRIPTION A charming character period farmhouse with a handsome façade, much cherished by the present owners for approximately 40 years. The house provides spacious character accommodation arranged over 3 floors. The open fronted garage was built about 35 years ago. Nearly all the windows have been replaced with handmade timber framed double glazed units sympathetic to the era.

The house is entered through the central reception hall with quarry tiled floor and a period staircase to the first floor with timber panelling. Lying at the rear of the hall is a cloakroom with utility space including plumbing for a washing machine.

The spacious drawing room has a wonderful wide brick fireplace with magnificent iron range, exposed ceiling timbers, booked shelving and quarry tiled flooring.

A splendid large dining kitchen has fine exposed timbers, floorboards and a raised Karndean floor. There is an excellent range of timber fronted wall and floor mounted cabinets, long timber work surface, AEG double oven and gas hob with extractor over, space for integral fridge, pretty wall tiling, plumbing for dishwasher, and stable door to the side.

On the first/second floor are 6 double bedrooms (one presently used as an office), three of which have fitted wardrobes. There are two bathrooms, each fitted with bath and separate shower unit.

OUTSIDE Sebright Farm is approached by a most attractive handmade timber gate and gravel drive. This leads to an open fronted brick and tiled detached double garage.

Fronting the house is a large level lawn set within partially walled gardens with paved path. The gardens continue around the side of the property, passing the entertaining terrace and side gravelled area. The lawns sweep between mature shrub & tree planted beds. To the side amongst the trees are the timber shed, greenhouse and kitchen garden area.
