Description
The Tour
On arrival, the entrance hallway has a line of sight that extends across the ground floor. Contemporary detailing, quality materials and a sense of calm are immediately apparent via the fresh light palette, frameless glazed balustrades and Douglas fir floorboards that extend throughout.
The main living spaces wrap around an internal courtyard, separated only by triple-glazed Passivlux windows and bifold doors that effortlessly integrate the inside and outside spaces. The kitchen is at the front and is fitted with bespoke handmade units, a solid concrete worktop and fully integrated appliances. Skylights illuminate the dining area. At the rear, the voluminous living room has high sloped ceilings and full-height glazing that beckons in natural light and skyward views.
Accessed from the entrance hall is a study with generous built-in storage; the room would also make for a brilliant third or guest bedroom. Completing the ground floor are a downstairs WC, coat cupboard and under-stairs storage.
On the first floor, the principal bedroom has expansive dual-aspect windows and a smart en suite wet-room. An additional double bedroom has a similarly peaceful atmosphere and provides plenty of storage in built-in wardrobes.
At the far end of the first floor is a shared bathroom with modern fittings including a luxurious and deep Japanese-style soaking bathtub.
Outdoor Space
The internal courtyard garden is the centrepiece of the ground-floor plan. It offers a flexible way of living alongside the outdoors and is visible from the principal living spaces. A particularly impressive Japanese maple has been planted in its centre, its pink leaves providing a spectacular backdrop come spring.
A bike store is accessed off the garden.
The Area
Deptford is a thriving area of London with a growing cultural profile. It is now recognised as one of the most fashionable parts of south London, with Deptford High Street being recently named 'the coolest street' in London by Time Out.
The area has a variety of outstanding pubs, bars, and restaurants, such as The Watergate, Villages Brewery, and Artusi’s sister-restaurant Marcella. There are also a number of highly regarded galleries and venues, including The Albany and The Shipwright. At nearby Deptford Market Yard, there is a recently launched collection of independent shops and restaurants set within and around Deptford’s refurbished railway arches.
This has been joined in recent years by a new wave of establishments, including Buster Mantis, a bar renowned for its famous Steam Down jazz nights; Klose and Soan, an exceptional natural wine bar and shop, serving great European cooking from its small kitchen; and Forest for all houseplant-related needs. Scawen Road is also a short walk from The Victoria Pub SE8, a local favourite with a quiz, comedy, open mic, and live music nights.
Deptford train station is a three-minute walk away, running mainline services into London Bridge in just six and eight minutes respectively. There are also direct trains into the City via the Thameslink, which takes 20 minutes to get to Farringdon.
