Description
Description
Kimpton Lodge is an exceptionally attractive detached period house believed to have been built circa 1835 by George Soley Foyle whose family had been Lords of the Manor of Kimpton since 1620. The house sits on the edge of the village next to the pretty church of St Peter and St Paul, the grounds of the property extend to 1.2 acres overlooking open fields to one side.
This attractive detached period family house offers wonderful family accommodation over two floors. The property is approached through a welcoming reception hall with a fine turned staircase providing access to the first floor. The principal reception room, the drawing room, is a superbly proportioned room which in turn opens into a large dining room, there is a feature fireplace and doors that open to the rear terrace. There is a separate study which overlooks the rear garden. The large kitchen/breakfast room with Aga and working fireplace is a focal point of the house with doors
out on to a large rear terrace. A pantry, utility room and cloakroom complete the ground floor accommodation.
On the first floor there are six double bedrooms, the principal room has an adjoining dressing room and adjacent shower room, the remaining five bedrooms are serviced by a family bathroom and separate shower room.
OUTSIDE
Outside, the property is approached over a long driveway that services two houses, the gardens are largely to the rear of the property where a terrace leads down to lawned gardens and on to the tennis court at the rear. A yew tree walk provides access to the church and lies along the western boundary of the formal gardens and divide the kitchen garden from the house. The kitchen garden is partly walled measuring about 0.3 acres and provides an excellent amenity to the house.
There is an area of parking to the front of the house and this in turn leads to the detached double garage, with a storage room above.
