There is excellent sailing on the Firth of Clyde with yachting marinas at Troon and further up the coast at Largs and Inverkip. Historically, Sundrum Castle dates back to the 1360s, with significant improvements made in the late 18th century. The castle, known for its strength and thick walls, was expanded by John Hamilton in the 1790s. It later became a hotel and was restored in 1991. The castle is now divided into just three properties, including The Coats House.
