Description
Salcombe is one of the most sought after addresses on Devon’s south coast and for good reason; the town is situated on the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Estuary, flanked by the glorious rolling countryside of the South Hams and is renowned for its micro climate which makes it an ideal place for year round living.
Salcombe offers two sandy beaches, North Sands and South Sands and a short boat trip across the water to East Portlemouth provides access to a long sandy beach with hidden coves backed by woodland and coastal paths.
Sherbourne Cottage is ideally positioned in the very heart of the town, a short ferry ride from the East Portlemouth beaches and readily accessible to the harbour and the town's wonderful amenities.
Sherbourne Cottage was extensively refurbished in the last year and works carried out include complete redecoration inside and out, new radiators and towel rails, all new lighting and fire-safe ceiling lights on the first floor as well as new internal doors. In addition, the exterior stone elevation was re-pointed with traditional lime based mortar.
A charming stable front door opens into the kitchen dining room which has a newly fitted kitchen with AEG or Bosch appliances. The sitting room has a stone fireplace with Gazco electric “wood-burning” stove, painted ceiling beams, wood panelling and deep window seats. An open back wooden staircase leads to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms, each with their own shower room which were upgraded in 2024.
At the front of the cottage is a paved terrace and from here steps lead down to the waters edge - perfect for launching paddleboards or accessing the beach that runs along the west side of the estuary at low tide.
At one time the cottage was a greengrocers called The Salcombe Market Garden, the nearest shop to the beaches and a deliverer of clotted cream all over the country! It's now a much loved easy lock up and leave home in immaculate condition with the opportunity to holiday let if desired.
