Comments from the owner:
What made you want to buy the property? The proximity to green spaces - especially being able to see and be on the commons which are particularly lovely in the summer - wild grass and wild flowers. Also the very easy access to central London – 20 mins into London Bridge, 25 mins to Cannon Street, 30 mins to Charing Cross. Also now the Super Loop bus means you can get to Bickley station quickly from the War Memorial and then you have trains to London Victoria, Blackfriars and London St Pancras.
What do you love most about your property? We fell in love with the house as soon as we stepped inside the front door. We love its character, the high ceilings, the light that floods in especially at the back of the house through the roof lights and the generous sized rooms. We love to entertain and it’s been a great house for that - we’ve had many celebratory meals with family and friends - in the dining room and in the garden when the weather is warm. The back garden feels secluded especially in the summer and it’s very quiet. The planting means there’s sun and shade - making it a really pleasant space to sit. The front garden is planted with prairie style grasses and flowers which looks amazing in the summer and winter (I’m often complimented and even thanked for the front garden!). On a practical level this house is overflowing with storage space including an airing cupboard, the easily accessible loft space in the garage, the under stair cupboard, plus additional cupboards in the upstairs small double, the snug area and the sitting room. The kitchen is also fitted with floor to ceiling larder cupboards as well as base units etc. It’s great to have plumbing and electricity in the in the garage where we have the washing machine and extra fridge - it would be even better to separate the space and make a proper utility space!
What do you love about the area? Hawkwood National Trust and Scadbury woods are a five minute walk away – lovely spaces to walk. We’re spoilt for choice for pubs, restaurants and coffee shops! Royal Parade is very popular and has lots of al fresco seating now which is very nice. Also the proximity to the M20 means we can get in a car and be at the coast in an hour!
