Description

Little Cwm Farm is located close to the Welsh border on a warm, south-west facing hillside. Protected by the Black Mountains (some 5 miles away) it enjoys a gentle micro-climate in one of the most beautiful parts of Herefordshire.

A traditional stone farmhouse on the banks of the Dulas Brook, Little Cwm farmhouse dates from the 16th century. It was altered during the late 17th century, again in the 19th century and was the subject of a comprehensive restoration and refurbishment between 1988 and 1990.

The property boasts its own excellent water supply as well as generating electricity from PhotoVoltaic (PV) cells.

Main house of over 3200 sq. ft. with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

The detached, stone garage has a first floor, self-contained annexe with studio room, kitchenette and shower room.

Beautiful brookside mature gardens and grounds, with two greenhouses and a small vineyard. The pastures have been maintained to conservation standards.

Little Cwm Farm lies adjacent to “The Parks” nature reserve, and Ewyas Harold Common (famous for its butterflies) is within walking distance. The farm is of considerable conservation interest itself.

Versatile outbuildings including stables and grazing for three horses, along with stores, machinery shed, garden shed, and large dog kennel. Together with pasture, orchard, small vineyard and 12 acres of Ancient Woodland, this property extends to over 20 acres in all.

What 3 words:

Situated in Herefordshire's Golden Valley, famous for its idyllic countryside, Neolithic monuments, ancient churches and ruined castles, this place is as beautiful as it is wild and untamed. The name is a little misleading as the area is carved between the river valleys of the Dore and the Monnow, with a backdrop of the Black Mountains. Here you find the thrilling peaks of the Cat's Back, and you can wander “On The Black Hill” (like author Bruce Chatwin) as well as explore the many nature reserves in the area. The mosaic of rolling hills and patch-work fields is untouched by industrial farming. The Ancient Woodland and small, densely hedged fields that come with this property are from another age, proved by its rich botanical flora.

Little Cwm Farm is an intrinsic part of an extraordinary landscape. It is located in the small rural community of Dulas, close to the Black Mountains and Offa's Dyke. It is rural, but not isolated. The nearby villages of Longtown, Ewyas Harold and Peterchurch offer a good range of day-to-day amenities including village shops, public houses, GP surgeries and popular primary schools.
The nearby towns of Hereford and Abergavenny offer a wide range of amenities with high street stores and supermarkets such as Waitrose, as well as charming independent cafes and restaurants. Both city and town have swimming pools, fitness centres, hospitals, cinemas and museums. Hereford is the social, economic and cultural hub of the county, however the famous book-town, Hay on Way (just half an hour away) is also an option and a delightful contrast.
The area offers a good selection of state schooling including Ewyas Harold Primary School, and Kingstone and Fairfield High Schools. The Sixth Form College in Hereford is nationally renowned, with excellent Oxbridge entrance statistics.
There are noted independent schools including Hereford Cathedral School and the Haberdashers School in Monmouth. There is also a Steiner Academy at Much Dewchurch, approximately 8 miles away. Some private schools operate transport services from Ewyas Harold.
