OUR AREA

As its name suggests, Coalville is a former coal mining town, and coal was first mined in the area in medieval times. The coal mining industry was at its height during the 1800s, with railway lines built to transport the coal from the mines. The mines closed during the 1980s and many parts of the town have since been redeveloped and now boast a variety of modern shops and restaurants.

Nearby are many attractive towns and villages, including Whitwick, Ravenstone, Thornton, Bagworth, Heather, Hugglescote and Newton Burgoland. To the east, lies Charnwood Forest.

LIFESTYLE

There is a wide choice of shops in the area from High Street brands to family run businesses and places to eat range from traditional pubs to oriental takeaways and fast foods.

There is also plenty on offer when it comes to sports clubs, facilities and gyms and there are tennis courts in Coalville Park.

For education, there are 10 primary schools, 3 secondary schools - one with a sixth form. The town is also home to FE/HE Stephenson College, which offers around 800 different courses in academic, vocational and industry-specific subjects. With its combination of beautiful countryside and easy commuting, the town attracts a wide range of buyers.
