Description
Rookery Farm is Grade II Listed and believed to date back to 1480 with early 17th century additions. The house is built from timber frame under pitched fish-scale and plain tiled roofs at the front and plain tile and slate roofs to the rear. The house is south facing and has been sympathetically extended to the rear creating a very appealing family home. Internally there are some wonderful features including Inglenook fireplaces, exposed timbers, feature mullion windows and attractive outlooks over the gardens. There are further features on the first floor including vaulted ceilings in several of the bedrooms. A recent two storey guest wing has been added on one side of the house (first floor bedroom to be completed). The attractive gardens are well established with numerous trees, herbaceous borders and seating areas. To the far end of the garden is a pond and a hard tennis court with summer house to one side. The large parking area fronts a triple car port with workshop/garage to one side.
OUTSIDE
Rookery Farm is set back from the lane and approached over a gravelled curving drive which culminates to the side of the house and with a triple carport/garage. There is an attractive paved terrace which opens out to lawns. A side entrance leads to a sheltered and paved terrace with wisteria adorned pergola ideal for alfresco dining and doors to the side hall of the house. A path with retaining brick walls and box hedging lead through the attractive private gardens. Wide lawns are edged with deep flower and shrub borders. There is a pond beyond the main lawn with a further path to the hard tennis court with a double yew hedged walk and a summer house.
SERVICES
Mains electricity and water, oil fired central heating. Private drainage.
