Description

EPC band: G

Yopa Northumberland welcomes to the market this well presented, charming two bed period cottage perfectly located in the picturesque village of Harbottle. This is a rare opportunity to purchase not only a countryside cottage but also an outdoor lifestyle with stunning views overlooking the Northumberland countryside. The village is located within the Northumberland National Park
( the least populated park in the UK) and the house sits in a Dark Sky Area and is in England’s first International Dark Sky Park. The property has electric heating throughout.

The accommodation comprises: Entrance into the kitchen via a lovely stable style cottage door. The kitchen is fitted with a range of wall and base units and a small breakfast bar, space for cooker, washer and fridge. Door leading into the bathroom with w/c, wash hand basin with waterfall tap and bath with waterfall mixer tap and electric shower over. Back through the kitchen, there is a  door leading through to the  lounge, inglenook fireplace with multifuel stove, wood floors, two single glazed windows, with views across the front garden to the hills beyond, large under stairs cupboard, and  door with stairs leading to the first floor landing. Here you will find  two bedrooms, one large double with built in wardrobe, feature fireplace and window to the front, the other is a single bedroom with window to the front. The property has retained a lot of the original features and dates back to 1800’s

Externally the property benefits from a long South facing garden mostly laid to lawn with lots of mature trees and shrubs. There is a little gravel area and to the side of the property are two stone storage sheds and an additional storage shed with power. There is a perfect spot for a table and chairs to sit and soak up the sun or just looking out onto the hills and listen to nothing other than the birds tweeting. This really is a spot of pure tranquillity.

Harbottle is a rural village which lies approximately 8 miles away from Rothbury and is approximately 3 miles from the Scottish Border. Although this is a remote village there is a lot to offer with the fabulous Star Inn pub which serves not only as a bar for socialising there is also a local village shop and a wood fired pizzeria in the courtyard called “Pizzeria La Stella”. Within walking distance to the cottage is the ancient Drake Stone, a mythical place from where there are stunning views over the surrounding countryside and over to the ruins of the 12th century Harbottle Castle. There is also a primary school and health centre.

Alnwick is approximately a half hour drive away from the village and offers lots of local amenities including supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure facilities and the ever popular Alnwick Castle and gardens which are famously known for the setting of Harry Potter. Rothbury is a short drive away also offering local boutique shops, pubs and restaurants. There are some beautiful walks around Rothbury including the beautiful Nation Trust's Cragside house and gardens.
