The bell tower at Leybourne Chase has a history marked by both resilience and repair. Initially, the tower housed three bells, but after a collapse in 1580, it was restored with two. Lightning struck the tower in 1966, causing a fire that led to only one bell being retained. The tower, originally Norman, was later encased in an additional wall in 1874 by architect Sir Arthur Blomfeld.
