Description
What the owner loves about her home: 'I love how peaceful and quiet it is with no road noise and the lovely sense of community and safety. I love being in the garden room , working and looking out over the garden. I shall miss all this.'
With 3 double bedrooms spread across 3 floors, a garden with ponds and a home office/work space it is a perfect home for a young family or professionals who need good access to London and Bristol
The cottage can be accessed either from the front door or, more usually, via a shared pathway that leads to the back garden. According to the deeds you can take your horse along the path but you have to leave you cart on the road!
From the porch you step into a lovely open plan kitchen, dining and living space which is perfect for family leisure time and socialising with friends and has a woodburner for cosy winter nights. The painted wood kitchen with range cooker and wok burner has more than ample cupboard and drawer space and quartz worktops with a hint of shimmer add a touch of elegance. Hardwood flooring thoughout the ground floor make for easy cleaning if you have muddy paws or wellies after a walk along the river.
Off the hallway, which has a large storage cupboard which also houses the combi boiler, is a utility room with toilet and shower and the real front door with access to on street parking and as well as a woodstore.
Stairs up to the first floor lead to two large double bedrooms, with the principal bedroom overlooking the garden, having lovely light, original floorboards and useful built in wardrobes. A spacious modern bathroom with waterfall taps and bath with hand shower completes the first floor accommodation.
A door between the bedrooms reveals a hidden stairway which takes you to the large attic bedroom - a great room for an older child or for guests who want a bit of privacy.
Outside is where this lovely period cottage comes into its own. A large paved area outside the lounge window is a real suntrap and then the rest of the garden, featuring a lawned area and large patio with two wildlife ponds is perfect for children to play and explore and is very much enjoyed by the owner's grandchildre. At the end of the garden is a large home office/work space with water and which could be an excellent office or workspace or even a den for older children. At the end of the garden is access via steps directly onto The Retreat where there is also additional on road parking.

Frome is a popular Somerset town which is regularly voted one of the best places to live in the South West. It is home to a very creative community of writers, artists and musicians with the music venue, The Cheese and Grain, having previous hosted a surprise gig by the Foo Fighters as well as Paul McCartney's pre-Glastonbury gig. It offers a variety of high street names and a large selection of independent shops and cafes, particularly on the iconic Catherine Hill. The town hosts a very popular independent market held on the first Sunday of every month between March and December and an Arts Festival in July. Frome was one of the first places in the country to have a Community Fridge where residents and shop owners can donate excess food to the community to prevent food waste and also set up the first Share Shop where you can borrow anything from a highchair to a garden strimmer for a small fee. There is a leisure centre with pool, several theatres, a train station with good links to London, Cardiff, Dorset and Devon and whatever your hobby or passion there is bound to be a club or society which will welcome you.
