The hamlet of Shaw Mills is believed to have been named after a Robert Shaw who built a corn mill by Thornton Beck in the 16th century. The stream provided the source of power for Low Mill and High Mill. Over the years the mills produced corn, flax and then silk. Silk spinning commenced in the late 19th
century. After falling trade, the mills closed shortly after the end of the First World War but continued to be used for the manufacture of various products. High Mill latterly housed a leather and suede tannery.

We strongly advise calling to arrange a viewing as we do not forsee these homes being available for long!
