Description
The location is a massive winner, too; you are located between two Fare Zone 2 stations (10 minutes by foot) = Peckham Rye and East Dulwich. Bellenden Road is also pleasingly at the foot of the street.
There's a 'stealth' feel to the house as you arrive (this understated approach makes even more of what's inside) - we love the black matt paint on the bricks. Over the threshold and you know you are not in a carbon copy London home! Cool custom-made metal stairs lead up ahead (with space for bikes/the buggy etc.). Exposed brickwork and poured concrete to the floor sets your inviting scene.
Swing left and you land in the contemporary fitted kitchen with central island/bar and high-end integrated appliances (including dishwasher and wine fridge).
Off this room, to the front of the house, you have a windowed contemporary bathroom with white suite; which doubles as a guest w.c. Then next door (with en suite access) is your first bedroom: a good double, of over 11 feet by over 9 feet, with wooden flooring, and a generous built-in wardrobe.
Drop down from the kitchen to your open-plan reception/dining room. Wall-spanning folding doors are your prevalent theme - onto a smart ornamental courtyard from the living and dining areas, and also onto the pro-landscaped rear garden. Poured concrete to the floor looks and works great.
Your part-walled (suntrap of a) garden is low-maintenance by design, with built-in seating and well-considered lighting, plus paved and faux-lawned areas. A deep raised bed at the back is notably well-stocked with native and tropical planting.
The first floor is a huge, and hugely impressive master suite, with a vaulted ceiling (exposed beams bringing on the smiles) and a dressing area/walk-in wardrobe - which leads onto an immaculate contemporary shower room (monochrome detailing and large profile tiling impressing here). The intentional design here means you can split the vast bedroom to easily forge two large doubles should the current bedroom/office setup not suit your requirements.
What a sizzling spot. Currently undergoing further regeneration locally (the Peckham Rye Station refurbishment is particularly exciting), Peckham has loads of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as pop-up and regular events and festivals.
Within a matter of minutes, at your feet you've got Ganapati, The Begging Bowl, Petitou, Il Giardino, The General Store, The Life of Fish, Flock & Herd butchery and Review (the best book shop around!).
Rye Lane is also close for Peckham Levels, The Bussey Building & Copeland Park, plus handy high street shops, banks and fruit and veg stalls.
Central Camberwell is an easy walk for The South London Gallery and more restaurants etc. The Camberwell Arms, Kerfield Arms, Jazz at The Crypt, Veraison Wines and Theo's all come recommended.
East Dulwich's Lordship Lane and North Cross Road are also easily walkable. We love the Saturday street market on the latter.
Green space? Warwick Gardens is close, and Lettsom Gardens a short walk. Bigger open spaces include Peckham Rye Park and Common, Ruskin and Dulwich Parks. Brunswick Park and Lucas Gardens are also nice.
