Description

Positioned within a conservation area, this bright three-bedroom apartment occupies a quiet, leafy part of North Kensington. At its crux is an open-plan living space that flows towards a beautiful glass-walled extension and, in turn, a private patio garden. Portobello Road, Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove and Holland Park are all in easy reach; for travel further afield, Ladbroke Grove Underground station is seven minutes' walk away.

The Tour

The apartment has a private entrance on Milwood Road, characterised by its bright, freshly painted exterior and white stucco detailing. Elegant black and white tiles extend underfoot towards the entranceway, hinting at the contemporary palette within.

Entry is to a hallway with original glass panelling. Beyond lies the open-plan living and dining space, an especially bright space courtesy of a wonderful glass-walled extension that surrounds the rear kitchen. A simple palette of solid oak floors, white-painted brickwork and thoughtfully introduced lighting basks in the brightness.

Sleek white cabinetry defines the kitchen, continuing the minimalist palette. This has a built-in Neff oven along with plenty of storage. A sliding door opens from the kitchen onto a serene patio garden, creating a seamless connection between indoors and out.

At the front of the plan lies the main bedroom, with sash windows that let in an abundance of natural light while clever planting outside shields the room from the street. Deep built-in wardrobes provide plenty of storage, and an original fireplace adds character. An en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower adjoins.

The apartment has two further bedrooms, one of which has a double-height section and would be particularly suitable as a study. There is an additional bathroom with a sliding pocket door and concrete flooring underfoot that flows to a sunken bath at the rear.

Outside Space

The delightful walled patio garden provides a quiet space to relax, either alone or when entertaining friends. There is plenty of space for growing herbs and potted plants, along with lounge and/or dining seating.

The Area

St Charles Square is a beautiful tree-lined avenue located within easy reach of the shops, restaurants and bars of Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Grove, Portobello and Notting Hill.

Portobello Market is a six-minute walk from the house, while Notting Hill is around 10 minutes away. Nearby Golborne Road is home to a host of amenities, including yoga/wellness studio Love Supreme, the well-regarded Straker’s and the famous Lisboa patisserie. Layla Bakery is a local favourite, while Flying Horse Coffee serves up excellent hot drinks. Sister to The Pelican, Fat Badger serves up delicious food and drinks. The Golborne Deli and Wine Store is a one-stop shop for an evening’s hosting.

The general area is celebrated for its restaurants, cafés and boutiques, with Franklin’s Wine, Provenance Butcher and The Notting Hill Fish and Meat Shop all present. Other excellent restaurants in the area include the two Michelin-starred Ledbury, three Michelin-starred Core by Clare Smyth and Ottolenghi. Other bars, restaurants and pubs can be found throughout Notting Hill, as can The Electric Cinema and the popular Notting Hill Arts Club.

New arts and social club Ladbroke Hall is nearby, which hosts jazz nights, poetry readings, theatre shows and live music, as well as an Italian restaurant, Pollini. Members’ club Electric House on Portobello Road has a roof garden with an original domed ceiling, along with an extensive art collection.

Ladbroke Grove and Latimer Road Underground stations are both within easy reach. Numerous bus routes serve the area, while The Westway provides an easy route out of the city by road, and provides swift access to Heathrow Airport and the South West.
