Owner's comment:
Our time at Park Lane House has been transformative in more ways than one, we arrived as a young couple and leave as a family of three with a dog!
The area has been fantastic for our needs, the quiet private lane leads to woodland walks in one direction and the playground in another; whilst also being one minute from a shop for everyday items and a short stroll into Woodbridge for restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops. We enjoy walking along the river Deben and taking the secret footpath into the centre of Woodbridge past Woodbridge primary school. There is a real community spirit amongst the neighbours - all of whom can be called upon for a cup of sugar if needs be!
The house itself has been perfect for our growing family. When we arrived it was a well-maintained Airbnb and it has been easy to put our own stamp on it as a family home. Both house and garden are quiet, warm and easily managed. In winter we’ve enjoyed a fire in the sitting room and in summer the garden gets sun all day for meals outside with friends and family.
The garden:
When we arrived the garden had been allowed to fall into disrepair by the last owners. We removed a ramshackle garage and replaced it with a gravelled area which is now the sunniest spot in the garden. We added secure fencing along the back of the garden with a gate for access to the lane behind and a fenced area to hide the bins, as well as adding a smaller shed for storage.
We also dug in beds which are planted with well-established ornamental shrubs and perennials, as well as mature fruit-producing pear and apple trees.
In the front garden, we replaced a tired gravelled area with a lawn to complement the beautiful red acer tree and replaced a wild hedge with a neater hawthorn one. In the surrounding beds we have planted a mimosa, lavender and a wisteria that is very happily growing along the front and side of the house.
