Description
The property is accessed via flight of steps from Garth Ends which take you up to the front door and into a small lobby area where coats and boots etc can be stored. There is also a storage cupboard for larger things like hoovers and ironing boards. The lobby leads into the kitchen/diner.
The kitchen diner has a window overlooking the harbour side and a window to the side looking across the Beck. There is a built in oven and electric hob, sink and space for a washing machine and a freestanding fridge freezer. There is a fireplace and also space for a dining table and a T.V.
Stairs lead up to the first floor where at the top of the flight there is a door out onto the balcony where you can really enjoy the views. There is also a door into the room that the current owners use as a lounge which has a feature fireplace, built in cupboards and a window overlooking the harbour.
On this floor there is a fully tiled shower room with a shower cubicle, hand wash basin and W.C.
Stairs again lead up to the top floor where there is a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room with shower cubicle, hand wash basin and W.C. There are also built in storage cupboards/wardrobes. Again there are beautiful views to the front of the cottage.
Garth End is a great location , close to The Cod & Lobster, the beach and straight onto the High Street. It is tucked away from the busier Seaton Garth and is a lovely place to sit and quietly admire the sea.
For those interested in the name Five Bells- and a bit of maritime history- bells were traditionally used for time keeping on ships - a bell marking each half hour on deck watch. After the mutiny at the Nore (1797), the bells on the 4-8 watch were changed. From 4:00 to 8:00 pm, the usual bells were struck except that at 6:30 pm only one bell is struck instead of five; two at 7:00 pm; three at 7:30 pm; and eight bells at 8:00 pm. Thus the signal for the mutiny, five bells in the second dogwatch, has never since been given. A series of rapid, successive strokes on the bell is used as a warning during fog, and, at other times, this is a fire signal. So Five Bells isn't a regularly used bell toll onboard!
If you would like to come and visit this lovely cottage and appreciate the position and views available please call the office and we will book you a viewing as soon as possible!
