Description

Location

Tavistock is a thriving 'stannary' and award winning market town with regular farmers' markets and a large variety of independent shops and cafes. The town is rich in history dating back to the 10th century and is famed for being the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake; With various primary schools, both state and private secondary schools, Doctors' surgeries, swimming pools, tennis courts and moorland golf club..

Situation

'Jurston' is located towards the top of Down Road, on the same side as, and just after Deer Leap; perfectly situated with a short walk to the moors in one direction and the town centre in the other.

Accommodation

This charming, detached family home occupies a sizeable plot on one of Tavistock's most prestigious roads.

Set back behind gated access to a sweeping driveway, 'Jurston' has been lovingly maintained by the same family since it was built in 1958. The property retains an abundance of original character and charm, whilst having the benefit of double glazing (installed 2007) and a 'Worcester Bosch' combi boiler that was installed in April 2021.

The generous front and rear gardens are incredibly private; perfect for entertaining or as a place to escape the hustle and bustle of busy life... children could spend all day outside here with so much space to play and explore.

There is a detached garage with electric doors plus a smaller, integral garage.

Inside, the spacious accommodation is spread over two floors briefly comprising... Vestibule opening into a spacious entrance hallway that leads off first, to the dual aspect study. The study is a versatile space that would be equally suited for use as a playroom or fourth bedroom; the downstairs shower room is just opposite and the guest cloakroom along the hall.

After the study you will find the bright living room with two windows overlooking the front garden and a multi fuel stove for those cosy nights in. The original parquet floor is in wonderful condition and flows from the living room through to the dining room. A double glazed, sliding door then gives access to the double glazed conservatory with quarry tile floor and French doors to the front garden.

At the end of the hall is the breakfast kitchen with integrated fridge freezer and double oven; then through to the separate utility with walk in larder (currently used for coal storage).

Upstairs, the bright landing overlooks the rear garden through a large, double glazed picture window and leads to three double bedrooms plus a family bathroom.

Please refer to the floorplan for measurements and the virtual tour for a full 'walk around'

'Jurston' memories, from the family...

"We have many happy memories of visiting as children, when Deer Leap was still a place of open fields and grazing sheep. In those days the tradesman's entrance with its wooden gate in the devon bank at the front was in daily use and coal deliveries and groceries from Creber's all made their way down the narrow side path to the kitchen.

The milkman was more fortunate; a slate-lined niche had been built into the wall for the milk bottles, and here grandchildren might also be lucky enough to find an Easter egg squirrelled away for them.'
