Description

The historic market town of Bridgnorth is nestled within rural Shropshire on the banks of the river Severn. Once one of the biggest river ports in Europe but now a sought after destination for tourists and residents. It is split into the low town and the high town, linked by the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, the steepest inland funicular railway in Britain. Originally, the low town was the thriving port on the banks of the River Severn whilst the high town held the castle, churches and much of the still remaining 16th and 17th century properties. It now attracts tourists from all over the UK and especially the Birmingham Conurbation, being in easy driving distance and having a number of tourist attractions and events. One of the biggest attractions is the Severn Valley Heritage Railway, of which Bridgnorth Station is the most Northernly point and delivers large numbers of tourists to the centre of the town on a daily basis. The Croft B&B is a historic Grade II listed of mainly brick construction which is located on St Marys Street, just 50 metres from the busy high street and within easy walking distance of the towns major attractions including the Cliff Top Railway, Castle and Gardens and Severn Valley Railway Heritage Station.

The Croft B & B is a family run 4 star bed and breakfast that is established within an outstanding period property that is reputed to date from the 17th century, and all of the trading areas are packed with period charm and features. It also has the benefit of a letting chalet in the grounds with a small private garden. In addition, it has a very good three-bedroom owners home adjoining to the rear of the original property, of modern construction, offering accommodation over two floors and enjoying a garden.

The business itself has been established as a hotel and guest house for many years, operated by the current owners since 2019, during which time it has dedicated itself to a bed and breakfast style trade. There certainly is scope to revert back to a traditional hotel if required and to develop restaurant and events trade.

These substantial premises which have traded as a hotel and B&B for a number of years were originally two properties, being 10 and 11 St. Marys Street. The layout of the properties do provide potential to split the properties back to their original premises offering two potential businesses/homes with the owners home and garden in addition. All potential development work would be subject to planning permission being obtained from the local authority.

The business is currently arranged as follows:-

Front entrance to RECEPTION and LOUNGE, having classic 'Olde Worlde' heavily beamed ceiling and walls to carpeted floor. Brick chimney with an electric fire inset. Comfortable settle seating for 8. Reception desk.

Two section DINING AND BREAKFAST ROOM seating 24. These rooms retain much character, having partially beamed ceiling, large brick constructed solid inglenook fireplace with a gas fire inset and carpeted floor throughout. The room has the benefit of being able to be subdivided with part being used as the breakfast room seating 16 with additional cosier LOUNGE AREA, used as a restaurant facility by the previous owners.

CATERING KITCHEN with a mixture of domestic and commercial style fixtures.

11 character EN SUITE LETTING BEDROOMS set over 3 floors plus the chalet accommodation set up as follows:

1 FAMILY BEDROOM with EN SUITE

1 TRIPLE BEDROOM with EN SUITE

7 DOUBLE BEDROOMS with EN SUITES (including chalet)

2 TWIN BEDROOMS/LARGE DOUBLE with EN SUITES

To the rear of the property is the SECRET GARDEN CHALET, of timber construction and having small KITCHENETTE, open plan LOUNGE and DOUBLE BEDROOM with EN SUITE. It also has the benefit of a small PRIVATE GARDEN AREA.
