Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Living in the York & Elder area offers a mix of convenience and charm. The local shops provide a good range of everyday essentials, and there are some nice cafés and restaurants nearby, though options for nightlife and bars are a bit limited. Open green spaces are easily accessible, offering a pleasant escape from the urban feel. Transport links are generally reliable, with good access to buses and train services, making commuting straightforward. However, occasional service delays during peak hours can be a downside. The street itself is usually quiet and well-kept. Parking can be a bit competitive at times, especially in the evenings, but it’s usually manageable. Bin collections are consistent, and anti-social behaviour is rare. Traffic noise is minimal, contributing to a peaceful living environment overall.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The building management at York & Elder has been responsive and professional, addressing issues promptly and keeping residents well informed throughout the process.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
One thing I wish I had known before moving into York & Elder is that parking can be limited during peak hours, especially in the evenings. It’s worth confirming your parking options in advance. Also, bringing your own window coverings or curtains is helpful, as not all units come fully equipped. Overall, it’s a great place to live, but small details like these can make the move-in smoother.
Manager's response5Hi JK, WOW! Thank you for your wonderful 5 Star review. It's great to hear that you are having a positive experience whilst residing at York & Elder; and that you are enjoying the cleanliness and contemporary feel of the property; with the quality and design. The Team and I are delighted to hear that you are finding us to be professional and that all concerns are dealt with efficiently. To highlight that we do offer secure underground car parking (subject to availability); of which we do operate a waitlist as well. Please don't hesitate to reach out further if this is of continued interest. Thank you for choosing "York & Elder" as your "home". Kind regards, Serena

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The local area is what you’d expect for a central city location with a good choice of shops, restaurants right on your doorstep and the Lanes and city centre a stones throw away. The building is located on New England Street which is quite a busy road, but no traffic noise can be heard when the windows/doors are closed. The Elder Place Corridor behind the building is a little shabby but is about to undergo a facelift to make it more vibrant and welcoming. Transport links are fantastic with Brighton train station 5mins walk away. But car parking is an issue, with residents unable to get permits from the council for on-street parking combined with limited parking spaces available in the building - and the few that are available come at a significant cost.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Yes the building management responded to an issue I raised in relation to dust coming in via the air vents. The air filters were changed the same day and the issue has not occurred again since.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
That residents are not able to get an on-street parking permit.
Manager's response5Hi Simon, Thank you for your fantastic 5 Star review, the Team and I are delighted to receive. It's great to hear that you find the building to be exceptionally well designed and that you are embracing the fabulous amenities and benefits of being in part of a thriving private community. We are currently operating a waitlist for our secure underground car park. If this is of interest to you- please don't hesitate to reach out to the concierge desk. Thank you for choosing "York & Elder" as your "home". Kind regards, Serena

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
London Road is vibrant and a bit gritty. Loads of great and fun pubs. Some really quirky and interesting eateries. Open Market is fun. Transport is excellent with buses into town and trains and coaches to London and Gatwick.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The maintenance team has usually responded to my requests.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The area has a great selection of local shops, cafés, and restaurants, along with lovely nearby green spaces. Transport links are reliable and convenient, with good access to buses and train stations. The street is quiet and clean, with no problems related to anti-social behaviour or traffic noise. Private parking is available, and the bin chute system on each floor makes waste disposal simple and efficient. A special thanks to Moe, Zee, and Dan — the management team is excellent. Moe and Zee are always kind, respectful, and helpful, and Dan, the manager, is professional, approachable, and makes sure everything runs smoothly. Their support creates a very welcoming and well-managed living environment. Overall, it’s a comfortable and enjoyable place to live.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The building management has always responded quickly and professionally to any issues. They are polite, efficient, and make sure everything is resolved without delay. I’ve always felt supported and well taken care of.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
One thing I wish I had known earlier is how active and welcoming the community is. The management team regularly organises social events, which really helps residents connect and feel at home. Also, the convenience of having a gym, co-working space, and even private meeting rooms inside the building is something you don’t fully appreciate until you start living here. It’s more than just an apartment — it really feels like a complete living experience.
Manager's response5Hi AL-Qasem, WOW! What an amazing 5-star review to have the pleasure of receiving and reading - the Team will equally be delighted. Thank you so much for choosing York & Elder as your home. It's great to hear that you are enjoying the well thought out development and design, and that you are embracing the fabulous community and regular events. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. Kind regards, Serena

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I would gotten a unfurnished flat, as quality of fourniture is not the best, such as mattress .
Manager's response5Hi Barbara, Thank you for your valuable feedback and 5-star review; and that you find the design of the building to be amazing and equally happy with the landlord. It's great that you find that your queries are dealt with very quickly and efficiently. Thank you for choosing York & Elder as your Home. Kind regards Serena
