Description

Perfectly situated coastal barn conversion with south facing garden.

Description

Beacon Hill Barn is a delightful and sophisticated barn conversion, which is very close to the beach, yet in a private peaceful location within the popular coastal village, Thorpeness.

Beacon Hill Barn features handsome red brick and weatherboard elevations, and a pantile roof. Internally, the accommodation flows remarkably well and comprises high ceilings, well-proportioned and light filled rooms.

At the heart of the home lies the open-plan kitchen and dining room, featuring floor to ceiling glazed windows and bi-fold doors that open onto the courtyard garden, creating a wonderful sense of indoor outdoor living.

The kitchen is equipped with an Aga and a range of wall and base mounted cabinetry. Beyond this space is a charming snug, light and welcoming, centred around an attractive fireplace.

Steps lead down from the kitchen and dining area to a spacious, double-aspect sitting room, which enjoys wonderful views over the garden and features French doors that open out directly. Completing the ground floor accommodation is a double bedroom, accessed from the sitting room, which benefits from an en suite shower room.

A staircase leads up to the bedroom accommodation where there are three well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom. The principal bedroom benefits from an en suite bathroom.

Outside
Beacon Hill Barn is approached via a private drive, leading to a generous gravelled driveway that provides ample parking to the front of the property.

The mature, south-facing garden is a standout feature and is a beautifully planted courtyard with established borders and winding pathways. Directly to the rear of the house, is a delightful terrace that offers the perfect setting for alfresco dining and outdoor entertaining.

Location

The village of Thorpeness, which is set around a boating lake known as The Meare, has developed from its Edwardian inception as a fairytale holiday village. Set on the Suffolk Heritage Coast with a shingle beach, the village lies to the north of the well served seaside town of Aldeburgh, and is just a few miles from Leiston where there is an excellent sports centre with a swimming pool and gym. The town also has a good variety of shops and a supermarket. Thorpeness boasts its own country club, tennis courts, golf club, cafés and pub/restaurant. There are many more amenities including galleries, a cinema, library and restaurants at nearby Aldeburgh. Saxmundham, approximately eight miles away, has a weekly market, and railway station with frequent trains to London Liverpool Street via Ipswich railway station. Attractions in this part of Suffolk include nature reserves at Minsmere and Havergate Island. There are ancient castles at Orford and Framlingham, sailing at Aldeburgh and Woodbridge and music at Snape maltings - home to the internationally renowned Aldeburgh Festival.
