Four hectares of verdant parkland abounding with ancient trees, secret corners and multiple dependencies envelope this historic 18th- century Chateau on the outskirts of a bustling market town near St Hilaire du Harcouët.



Built upon the remains of a 13th Century medieval fortification the grounds still host an ancient feudal mound, a moat and ponds to be renovated, a stream, a vast coach house with development potential, a boulangerie, a Rotunda and many other remnants of the old fortifications.



Formerly home to a Princess and various members of the nobility the Chateau was substantially destroyed by the 100 Years War and the Revolution of 1701. The current Chateau was salvaged from a wing of the 18th century version and is now both a grand family home and a luxurious Chambre d'hôte with room for further renovation and expansion.



From the garden a set of double stairs leads lead up and into the large entrance hall with solid oak staircase leading to the 1st and 2nd floors. At the back of the hallway are the stairs which descend to the Rez de Jardin.



The Chateau is replete with high ceilings, enormous rooms, wooden paneling and flooring, vast chimneys, ancient beams, beautiful double-glazed windows and all renovations have been undertaken with sympathy and passion by the current owners.



There are cast iron radiators forged in Germany linked to modern heating systems, beautifully appointed bathrooms supported by a conforming micro station fosse and a robust electrical system that supports modern day living.

The entrance hall leads to an enormous Salon with a period fireplace, a magnificent Library, a functional office and a vast room that has yet to be designated.



On the next floor are three completely renovated bedroom suites all of a substantial size with ensuites and one with a nursery attached. On the top floor are a further 3 bedrooms and a number of un-renovated rooms which offer the potential for additional bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen space. Thereby enabling separate owners' accommodation if required.

In the Rez de Jardin you will find the kitchen, utility rooms, dining room, a cellar, laundry room and other offices. All of which have supported the current owners in running a highly desirable luxury Chambre d'hôte.
