Hitchin is a market town with a population of around 35,000 people, It lies in the valley of the River Hiz at the north-eastern end of the Chiltern Hills. It has a main line station with trains to Kings Cross taking around 33 minutes and there are through trains through London to Gatwick and onto Brighton. It has many good and outstanding primary and secondary schools which include, Hitchin Girls’, Hitchin Boys’ and The Priory School. There are a good range of shops, restaurants, public houses, theatres, gyms, swimming pools and sports clubs.
