• A duty to be ordinarily resident on, or within 32km (20 miles) of your croft
• A duty to cultivate and maintain your croft or put it to another purposeful use
• A duty not to misuse or neglect your croft.

In addition, there is a legal requirement to return an Annual Notice to the Crofting Commission each year, confirming whether or not you adhere to these duties. Failure to return this notice is a criminal offence, and if as a result of this, any failure to meet the duties is discovered, you could lose the croft or the right to use it.

Overlooking the Summer Isles and open sea, Achiltibuie is set in magnificent mountain and coastal scenery on the remote north west coast. Ullapool, approximately 24 miles away, has a greater range of facilities with a supermarket and other shops, restaurants, pubs and hotels as well as the main Ferry terminal to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides.





From Ullapool follow the A835 north for approximately 16 miles until you reach Drumrunie. Take the left had turn and follow this road for 13 miles until you reach a fork in the road. Take a left hand fork to Achiltibuie. When entering the village continue past the Summer Isles Hotel and the croft entrance is on the right hand side just after the 20 MPH sign.
