Description

Millfield House is one of a small number of fabulous original houses, which were constructed in the early 1900s in this very special and privileged location. The whole development, which is known as Jameson Manor Estate, provided the old historic Police Headquarters to Northumberland and was developed into luxury houses over the last 5 years.

The original properties, for which this is one of the examples, has been superbly converted from its previous residential and commercial use into a fabulous family home. The property was purchased by the current owner in 2023 and has a great location overlooking the village green which occasionally hosts local village parties for the estate and lovely Woodland walks. The locality has a strong community group and service, as well as a running club and regular meetings amongst neighbours, creating a lovey family feel.

The property has a number of extras and has believed to have been one of the original show houses in the estate, with substantial gardens surrounding, including lovely patio terraces which have been added to a number of the elevations, providing excellent sitting and alfresco dining areas.

The house has a good deal of sunshine throughout the summer months and effectively entertains excellent sitting areas throughout the gardens as the sun moves round from the morning through to the evening.

The property has a large double detached garage and wrought iron railing surrounds with mature Laurel hedging, as well as a number of maturing trees in the gardens which are impressive. The open lawned areas and the beautiful patio terraces compliment the house very well.

The property itself has both a front and rear entrance, the latter being used more regularly as it is closest to the garage. The entrance connects in through to a fabulous reception hall which stretches the depth of the property and the front with a cloak’s cupboard underneath the stairs and at the rear a separate WC. Access leads from this tiled hallway into principal reception rooms, for which there are three, and a beautiful kitchen/breakfast room which has been refitted to a very high standard in a modern minimalist fashion with extensive built in appliances, refrigeration, cooking and wine chillers, as well as a central island unit with built in hob and concealed extractor, providing a lovely breakfasting bar and a super finish to the whole of the kitchen.

The three remaining rooms provide two formal receptions at the front of the property, one of which has a beautiful fireplace in a modern contemporary style with running flame fire and a recess for a concealed plasma screen TV. The second reception room would also be used a as sitting room, both have lovely views overlooking the large green at the front. The third reception room is part of a modern contemporary addition at the rear, under a flat roof with large glazed patio windows and has a contemporary suite and furnishings at the moment, ideal as a family room.

To the first floor of the house there are four good bedrooms, the master with an ensuite luxury shower room and the further bedrooms having access to a family bathroom WC, all of which are superbly finished. Two of the bedrooms have a range of fitted wardrobes.

The spacing and interior design throughout the house is attractive, with period style radiators, lovely built in spotlights to many of the ceilings and contemporary modern decoration with wall panelling and original staircase which is very charismatic.

Millfield House is a beautiful home which enjoys short access into the village and Ponteland (much closer than most of Darras Hall is). The pedestrian or vehicle access gives convenience for schools, as well as Ponteland leisure centre, restaurants and local public inns.

The house is also very well located for its convenience to bus links and being a short drive to Newcastle City Centre, as well as the metro serving the whole on Tyne & Wear from Woolsington. The international airport at Ponteland is also very close by.

Millfield House, set back in Gideon Walk is a fabulous family home for which we strongly recommend an early viewing, given the quality of accommodation and its beauty of the mature gardens, as well as the location over the village green.
