Owners' Comments
"We were drawn to Loughtor Mill because of its beautiful woodland setting, its proximity to Plympton town, and being just 15 minutes from Plymouth city centre. We love the riverside walks, the bridle path up to Cann Woods, and the abundance of wildlife, from bats and owls to deer, hedgehogs, swifts, swallows, and even the occasional kingfisher.
We fell in love with the history of the mill, which dates back to the 16th century and has one of Devon’s largest overshot water wheels. Apartment Three sits on the top floor of the principal mill building, which was originally the workhouse where corn was hoisted and milled. Some locals even remember family members working here, and it’s been fascinating to hear their stories.
Restoring the mill took us four years, guided by Lee and Richard from Grand Designs. We used natural materials, repointing the stonework with Cornish lime, and focused on sustainability with air source heat pumps, solar panels, and EV charging points. We’re proud that all the homes achieved EPC A ratings, making them eco-friendly and future-proofed."
