The main nearby town of Agde is 4km away and is one of the oldest towns in France and sits at the mouth of the Hérault Rive, blending deep historical character with Mediterranean seaside life. Known as the "Black Pearl of the Mediterranean" because of its dark volcanic basalt architecture, the old town still reflects its Greek origins and maritime heritage while nearby Cap d'Agde, also just 4km from the villas, provides a modern resort atmosphere and a great selection of shops, bars,cafes & restaurants and a large harbour. Near Cap d'Agde, Plage de la Baie de l'Amitié (2 mins walk from the villas) offers a quieter alternative to the busier resort beaches. Set between Rochelongue and the Saint-Vincent area of Grau d'Agde, it's reached via a dune path that gives it a more natural, open feel. The beach is wide and sandy, with stretches that remain less developed and more "sauvage," popular with locals looking for a calm place to swim or unwind. While it has some seasonal lifeguard coverage and a few private beach services, much of its charm comes from being less commercial and more peaceful than the central resort beaches.
