Location
Stoer is a small hamlet located on the NC500 on beautiful West Coast of Scotland approximately 6.5 miles from Lochinver and roughly an hours drive from Ullapool. The area is famous for its spectacular countryside, rugged mountains, stunning coastline and beautiful beaches.
Situated in an elevated position above Stoer beach it gives views across to Suilven, and there are many other Munros close by. The area offers excellent coastal walks, mountaineering, fishing, geology, and kayaking, as well as an abundance of flora & fauna. The sandy beaches at Clashnessie, Clachtoll and Stoer are all a short distance away.
The village of Lochinver is a thriving and busy port. It has two small supermarkets, a general store, petrol station, Health Centre, Community/Leisure Centre, and a primary school as well as a number of other shops, cafés, and restaurants. Ullapool, has a wider range of amenities including a secondary school.
Directions
From Ullapool take the A835 north. At the Ledmore Junction turn left on to the A837 signposted Lochinver. After 17 miles turn left onto the B869 signposted Stoer, Drumbeg. Follow the single-track road for 7 miles until you reach Clachtoll. On heading up the hill you will see the old ruined church on your right hand side and 162 Stoer is located on the right hand side, beside the track leading to the old church.
