Description

Tucked away within a cobbled street just off Islington Green, this mews house offers cleverly designed contemporary living space within a Victorian terrace in the very heart of Islington. Rarely available in this location, it is positioned neatly between Upper Street and Essex Road.

INSIDE

Arranged over two floors, the house has been thoughtfully configured to maximise light, volume and storage throughout.
The ground floor is centred around a well-proportioned open-plan reception, dining and kitchen space, finished with pale herringbone flooring, clean-lined cabinetry, integrated appliances and ambient lighting. The layout works comfortably for both everyday living and entertaining, with excellent natural light from full-height windows.

Ascending to the first floor, the stairs feature a contemporary runner, which continues as carpet throughout upstairs. On the right hand side, the staircase has useful fitted storage and shelving.
Upstairs, two double bedrooms are calm and well balanced, in a neutral, contemporary finish. The two bathrooms are sleek and modern, with metro tiling, walk-in shower, rainfall fittings and streamlined vanity units.

A standout feature is the mezzanine level, currently used as a study, overlooking an atrium void and providing a flexible work-from-home or reading space. The house also has a generous loft area offers excellent eaves storage, adding valuable practicality rarely found in homes of this scale.

HISTORY

Collins Yard is a quiet, characterful cobbled mews set just off Islington Green, in the heart of Islington. It takes its name from its historical association with Collins’s Music Hall, one of Islington’s most famous Victorian entertainment venues. The yard originally ran alongside the music hall and provided access to its rear from Gaskin Street toward Islington Green. The hall was damaged by fire in 1958 but the façade survives today as Waterstones Bookshop.

NEIGHBOURHOOD & CONNECTIONS

With Upper Street’s restaurants, cafés, boutiques, cinemas and theatres on one side and the independent shops and eateries of Essex Road on the other, the location is spoilt for choice.
Local favourite restaurants Bellanger and Noci are just at the end of the mews over looking the green with many more culinary stalwarts and hot new openings in the surrounding area.
Transport links are plentiful with Angel (Northern Line) just 0.4 miles away, Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line, Overground and National Rail) 0.7 miles away and Essex Road (National Rail) 0.5 miles away, all offering easy access into Central London, around the city and beyond. Numerous bus routes from Angel, on the other side of Islington Green, take you all over the capital and the area is well served with cycle lanes.
