During house hunting, there are times when the choice of properties becomes baffling; is it big enough? Does it need too much work? Will it still meet my needs in future years?
When considering this last question, there are circumstances when only a bungalow can offer the guarantees you need as the aging process takes its toll and stairs become more of a burden. If any of this is sounding familiar? Well, you may just have found the answer, in this attractive and easily maintained home.
To the front there is an imaginatively laid out garden featuring a mix of lawns and paved areas where the boundaries of the lawn are of weed-free gravel, with sunken pots at intervals containing scope for colourful plants.
Beside this the paved drive slopes down to the detached garage with its own light and power, while on the other side of the home is a deceptively broad stretch of lawn leading through to the rear garden. Surrounded by substantial wooden fencing this is a pleasing place to sit and relax beside the ornamental pond, while your tomatoes ripen in the large greenhouse, but the best part is the view.
Although my visit was during a fairly misty day, it is plain to imagine that the entire Wirral is visible on the far side of the estuary and, given better conditions, I am pretty certain that the vista would become even more impressive.
Entering the home, via the side facing 'front' door, takes us into the 'L' shaped inner hall where, on our left, is the door to the principal bedroom.
This is as large a room as you could wish for and enjoys plenty of natural light from the picture window overlooking front garden. It also benefits from the extra storage afforded by the spacious airing cupboard, where it also houses the easily accessible gas combi central heating boiler.
Adjacent to here, and also overlooking the front, lies the spacious lounge. This is a well-proportioned roomy space and it maintains excellent light levels thanks to an additional window set high in the side wall. It features a real blast from the recent past, well recent to me anyway, in the shape of a stylised stone fire surround which stretches round the corner of the room providing the perfect spot for the TV. To be honest, it's a bit 1970s in its appearance, redolent of fat Elvis and flared loon pants, but it's certainly not unattractive and is undeniably practical. Sitting on the hearth is a glass fronted living flame gas fire that provides background warmth for those evenings when it is not quite cold enough to warrant running the central heating.
Crossing the hall from here we come to the bathroom, which has evidently been the subject of a recent refurbishment. This provides everything you could need in a modern and appealing setting. The walls are covered entirely with large UPVC panels, light in appearance and, with no joints visible, you can bid goodbye to discoloured grouting in the future. The suite comprises of a contemporary pedestal wash hand basin, lavatory and traditional bath, but with the added bonus of an electric shower above. In the corner is the capacious linen cupboard capable of storing all your bedding with ease, unless you are hell bent on running a B&B...
Opposite here is the smallest of the bedrooms, though smallest does not necessarily equate to small. Ideally suited for single occupancy it could, at a squeeze, take a double bed and still leave space for a small wardrobe but should two bedrooms be enough for your needs, you have a ready-made office/music or hobby room.
Beside this is the second of the double rooms. Not quite as spacious as the principal, it does nonetheless provide room for enough free standing furniture to suite most tastes; even the more esoteric ones. And it does all this while giving the occupant the chance to relax admiring the inescapable view.
Adjacent to this is the kitchen, where two banks of fitted units line the front and back walls, almost in the style of a galley kitchen but don't worry, it is vastly bigger than that. It has again been recently installed as evidenced by the brand new cooker. It is a bright and cheerful space thanks to the large picture window, which takes its light from the attached conservatory.
Stepping into here is almost like stepping into the garden as you are treated to a view of the entire space which in turn makes the room feel even bigger, not that this is necessary in any way as it can only be described as generously proportioned. Where it really does score as a conservato,ry however, is the fact that it contains a large radiator which is fed from the home's central heating system, meaning that you never lose the use of it even during the coldest of winters and making it a welcome extension to an already very appealing home.

All in all this is somewhere that hides its light beneath bushel. If circumstances have forced you to consider a bungalow against your innermost wishes, this makes that situation completely bearable by its sheer charm, practicality and undeniable appeal. However if you want a bungalow because you just do, it makes an excellent case for itself by being well laid out, spacious and in stunning condition, meaning that some lucky buyer can simply move in and enjoy it with the absolute minimum of fuss and effort. The added bonus being its location; within easy reach of the major road network and of course the views....did I mention the views?
