Location: 

The house is located in the medieval hilltop village of Caussiniojouls, which sits between the Mediterranean coast to the south and the dramatic Montagnes Noires to the north. The village is surrounded by vineyards producing the delicious wines of the Faugères appellation. 

The village of Faugères is a 6min drive. Here you'll find an excellent bakery, a butcher and a great wine bar/restaurant - Les Grands Vins du Terroir. Le Relais des Oliviers is a popular restaurant just outside Caussiniojouls. The town of Laurens (7mins) has a wider selection of shops, a big farm shop and a fine-dining restaurant called the Abbaye Sylva Plana. The closest supermarket is in Magalas, 12mins away. 

There's plenty to explore in the local area. Pézenas is a beautiful historic town, known for its cobbled streets and its vibrant Saturday market. Mont Caroux and the Gorges of Héric and Colombier offer spectacular walking trails alongside excellent natural swimming spots. Roquebrun is a picturesque riverside village, perfect for swimming and a popular starting point for kayaking. For something more leisurely, the Canal du Midi near Portiragnes is ideal for hiring bikes or boats and enjoying the scenery at a relaxed pace.
The Mediterranean coast (35mins) stretches for miles with golden sandy beaches and some wonderful bars and restaurants. The cosmopolitan city of Montpellier is within easy reach, as is Beziers, with its airport and TGV station.
