Description

Constructed of natural stone beneath a traditional clay tiled roof, The Stables offers generous and versatile accommodation arranged over two floors, with a natural flow between the principal reception rooms and a pleasing sense of light and space throughout. The house is entered via a well-lit entrance lobby opening into a spacious reception hall which immediately conveys the scale and character of the house. From here, the elegant drawing room forms an impressive focal point, with high ceilings and fireplace with wooden surround. Glazed doors open into the heated conservatory, which provides a delightful space for a spot of lunch while enjoying the garden views. The large dining room is open plan with the sitting room, offering a space well suited to both family life and entertaining and features glazed wall cabinets flanking the archway, adding character as well as useful storage. The kitchen is well proportioned and fitted with painted units, with integrated appliances including a Neff induction hob and eye-level double oven and space for an under-counter fridge and dishwasher. An adjacent larder provides an additional repository, while the utility room is fitted with further units, a recess for a fridge freezer and capacity for a washing machine and dryer.
To the other side of the house, a light-filled corridor leads to a study, which could readily serve as a ground floor bedroom if required, together with a further double bedroom, enjoying a south facing bay window and fitted wardrobes. A family shower room serves this area, while additional storage is provided by an airing cupboard and an under stairs cupboard. The staircase rises to a bright landing equipped with an extensive range of cupboards. The first-floor accommodation comprises two bedrooms, one set within the eaves with views over the woodland garden and access to a long attic store with extensive cupboards and an attractive ox-eye window at the far end. The second bedroom is generous, overlooking the garden, with bespoke wardrobe and shelving. These bedrooms are served by a family bathroom furnished with a basin, WC and corner bath with electric shower over.
Throughout the house there are a number of appealing period features, including deep windows, skirting and coving and matching wood panelled doors, which contribute to the warmth and character of the property. The Stables offers excellent prospects for further enhancement: an opportunity to create a wonderful family home with a charming, secluded garden in a popular village with excellent communication links.

GARDEN AND OUTBUILDINGS
The gardens are a particular highlight of The Stables, arranged as a secluded and gently evolving woodland-style landscape. Meandering paths lead through mature planting to areas of lawn bordered by shrubs and stone walls. In spring, the garden comes alive with snowdrops, anemones, hellebores, periwinkle and flowing bulbs set among ferns, holly, sweet box and herbaceous geraniums. Mature trees provide dappled shade while preserving a sunny, south-facing aspect. Adjacent to the house is a delightful circular terrace, ideally positioned for outdoor dining and entertaining during the warmer months.
Set above the garage and approached via a winding garden path is the studio, clad in cedar beneath a clay tiled roof. Glazed French doors open into a generous and light-filled workspace with Velux windows, a separate cloakroom and access to a small terrace, creating an idyllic setting for home working, creative pursuits or ancillary accommodation. To the front of the property, driveway parking for two to three vehicles leads to the double garage with up-and-over doors, electricity, shelving, workbench and a range of units. Usefully, there is an additional parking space at the front of the house.
