Location
Middlezoy is a small village situated approximately 8 miles to the East of Bridgwater. It derives its name from "Sowey", a fertile island which the village was before the days of the reclamation of the Somerset Levels which began in the 13th Century.
The Village provides a healthy mix of older character property and modern houses built in recent years. The village boasts a community run Post Office and Shop, local pub, and historic local church which was used as an encampment by the King's soldiers during the Duke of Monmouth's rebellion which took place in 1685.
Indeed, one of them is buried there, the Somerset Levels are not only infamous for their historical battles but are also renowned for their variety of flora and fauna. Both the market town of Bridgwater, and the County town of Taunton are easily accessible by car and provide a good range of shopping facilities, restaurants, cinemas and other leisure amenities.
