Description

Greater London Properties Presents
A rare chance to secure a beautifully restored Queen Anne townhouse set along one of Bloomsbury’s most admired addresses.

The Property
This impressive freehold residence extends to approximately 4,663 sq. ft. (including vaults) and is arranged over five thoughtfully configured floors. The house has been meticulously renovated, retaining an array of elegant period features — including tall sash windows, original wall panelling, feature fireplaces, and a striking staircase — while incorporating high-quality contemporary finishes and modern systems throughout.

The ground and first floors are dedicated to generous living and entertaining space, offering excellent proportions, natural light, and a seamless sense of flow. A bespoke, fully fitted kitchen forms the heart of the home and opens directly onto a landscaped south-facing rear garden. Designed with tiered decking and a contemporary living wall, this private outdoor space provides a rare and tranquil setting for dining and entertaining in central London. A dedicated bar and wine store further enhance one of the principal reception rooms, creating an ideal environment for hosting.

The second floor is entirely devoted to a refined principal suite, complete with a spacious dressing room and an expansive en-suite bathroom designed to a luxurious standard. The third floor offers two additional double bedrooms, one of which benefits from its own kitchenette, allowing flexibility for guests, extended family, or staff accommodation.

The lower ground floor adds to the home’s versatility, featuring a private gym, shower and steam room, and substantial original vault storage — a valuable and practical asset in a prime period property.

Location and Transport
Great Ormond Street sits at the heart of Bloomsbury, an area long associated with London’s intellectual, medical, and cultural heritage. The street is renowned for its handsome period architecture and its proximity to world-class institutions, including the internationally respected Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Moments away lies Lamb’s Conduit Street, a charming enclave of independent boutiques, artisan cafés, and acclaimed restaurants, offering a true neighbourhood atmosphere within central London. The area is framed by Bloomsbury’s historic garden squares, including Russell Square, providing rare green open space just a short stroll from the property.

Cultural landmarks such as the British Museum are within walking distance, while the West End’s theatres, Covent Garden’s retail and dining scene, and the legal and financial hubs of Holborn and the City are all easily accessible.

Excellent transport connections are available via Holborn (Central & Piccadilly lines), Russell Square (Piccadilly line), and Chancery Lane (Central line), ensuring swift access across London, Heathrow Airport, and key business districts.

The result is a location that perfectly balances tranquillity and prestige with vibrancy and connectivity — placing the very best of London on your doorstep.

'What the Owner Says'
We have loved living in this beautiful house, the house was built in 1693 and every day I look at the original wall paneling, fireplace, bannisters and marvel that they are 333 years old and still look great.

Sometimes you have to look out of the window to remind your self you are in central London as it is so quiet outside. You are only a 10/20 min walk to Covent Garden, Soho, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square, Chapel Street Market, Embankment, River Thames, British Museum, Euston and Kings Cross mainline stations. We are surrounded by restaurants, shops beautiful squares such as Queen Square, Russell Square, Bedford Square, Bloomsbury Square and Tavistock Garden Squares. What we find amazing is even though we are in central London there is a real sense of community. People stop and talk to you in the street and it is very safe at night. The house has been an amazing family home for us over the years and will be for the next owners.
