Description

Derelict Residence & Old Market Yard

Located in the village centre of Aclare, and along the banks of the Inagh River which flows through the village, this property has huge redevelopment potential for a variety of residential/commercial purposes.

At present, the property needs total renovation, but the buildings have potential for redevelopment into a number of residential units, and the large yard has potential for new house development or commercial yard enterprise.

The yard extends to approx. 750m² (30x25m) and was the site of the old Aclare Cattle Mart which operated successfully until approx. 1990. A section of old sheds also accompany the open yard.

The residential section of the property was originally 2 separate units, but amalgamated over time. The residential section has an enclosed yard at the rear, with direct access to the river bank within 30m of the residence. A selection of old sheds also accompany the enclosed yard of the residence. The residences have potential for redevelopment into one or two large family homes, or alternatively for multiple smaller units. Renovation grant assistance for derelict properties, such as this, will be available to the new owner. Access to the residential section is from both the main street and side street, giving access options for multiple “own door” units.

The entire property is being offered for sale in one lot, but there is potential to sell the residential areas and old mart yard separately if demand was shown to favour this option.

How to find us

Sligo, land of rivers, mountains, lakes and vast stretches of stunning coast line, is a county which remains hidden to many visitors to Ireland, but once they have discovered it they understand why the poet W. B. Yeats called it the land of hearts desire. Its scenery and attractions are second to none, undoubtedly amongst the best in Ireland.

As the closest point on the West Coast to both Dublin and Belfast, Sligo makes an ideal touring base and holiday centre for either independent travellers or groups wanted to experience something of the wild, wonderful West. Sligo, capital of the Northwest Region, is one of Ireland?s largest towns. It accounts for one third of the County?s population with over 20,000 residents, swelling to a daytime population of 42,000. Situated on the Garavogue River, Sligo is a thriving tourist, commercial and administrative regional centre. It is also an important location for industry with many leading multinationals based here. The Irish Government some years ago selected Sligo as a Gateway or Growth Centre, which will guarantee further development in the future. Development: Over the past 10 years Sligo has grown significantly with the Rockwood and JFK Parade schemes providing rejuvenation in the City Centre. More is to come, with the development of the Buttermarket multi-storey car park and shopping mall which will further enhance the city?s reputation as a shopping destination. With Sligo?s (bypass) Inner Relief Road completed, pedestrianisation of the city centre will follow, greatly enhancing the Sligo experience for residents and visitors alike. Already heavy goods based retail warehousing is being catered for on the edge of town.

Outside Sligo City, the next biggest town is Tubbercurry, located on the N17 Roadway, 20 miles south of Sligo. This is a thriving county town with much to offer for business or leisure purposes. Knock Airport is just 15 minutes from Tubbercurry.
