Description
The Tour
Entry to this apartment is via well-maintained communal areas and lift/stairs. Its private front door opens to an internal hallway, with the open-plan living space opening out at its furthest end.
Almost floor-to-ceiling windows usher plenty of natural light into this space. Engineered oak floorboards spread out underfoot, uniting areas for relaxing, dining and cooking. Glossy black kitchen units topped with black-painted tiles contain integrated appliances.
The bedroom is accessed via the hall and is a serene space with white-painted walls and brilliantly conceived storage. Engineered oak floorboards continue here, and another tall window welcomes in natural brightness.
White square tiles line much of the bathroom; terrazzo-style floors are a subtle material contrast. A frosted window rests above the bath here, and there is storage in a mirrored cabinet and below the sink. The wood accents that run throughout the apartment here provide a warm material contrast.
Outdoor Space
A modest balcony with space to sit out extends from the living space - conveniently close to the kitchen for growing herbs. Far-reaching views stretch out towards the City skyline.
Residents of the building have access to a shared courtyard garden, planted with lawns and shrubbery.
The Area
The Interchange Building is exceptionally well-placed. The greenery of Hackney Downs, London Fields (with its heated lido), and Clissold Park are all within easy reach, while the wilder open spaces of Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes are only slightly further afield.
The wonderful Dalston Curve Garden, positioned on the site of a disused railway line, is a haven for flowers and wildlife and is mere minutes from the apartment. Perennial favourite The Dusty Knuckle and music venue Cafe Oto are also close by.
This part of east London is well known for its exciting food scene. Close by are the wonderful Casa Fofo, along with the likes of Oren, Mangal II and Violet Cakes. Kingsland Road is home to a number of excellent establishments, including Japanese restaurant and music venue Brilliant Corners and a second branch of Soho favourite Three Sheets. There is also a brilliant bookshop, Burley Fisher, which runs talks throughout the year.
There is a strong sense of community in the area, with weekly markets at Victoria Park and Well Street, as well as on Broadway Market, which has a reputation for some excellent places to eat and drink. E5 Bakehouse, on the edge of London Fields, is excellent for freshly baked artisan bread and grains.
Transport options are outstanding: Dalston Kingsland (Mildmay line), Dalston Junction (Windrush line) and Hackney Downs (Weaver line) are all close by and run services across the city. There are also plenty of bus routes nearby.
