Description

A delightful cottage with superbly appointed accommodation enjoying a
wonderful garden and set in the heart of this picturesque village.

Tucked away along a quiet lane in the very centre of the historic and highly sought-after village of Elton, Fireman’s Cottage is an enchanting country home that perfectly captures the charm and ease of village living.

Despite its central position, the cottage enjoys a peaceful and private setting, gently removed from passing traffic, a rare and valuable quality. Elton is widely admired for its vibrant community spirit, picturesque high street and excellent local amenities, offering a village lifestyle where neighbours know one another, and daily life feels both connected and relaxed.

The cottage is ideally suited as a main residence, a countryside retreat, or a second-home bolt hole, a place to slow down, recharge and enjoy the simple pleasures of rural living. Whether used for
weekend escapes or as a permanent home, it offers a wonderful balance between tranquillity and convenience.

On the ground floor, the accommodation flows beautifully and combines character with comfort. The spacious yet cosy sitting room features underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove, creating a welcoming space throughout the seasons. A separate dining area leads through to a well-appointed kitchen, while a conservatory opens directly onto the charming walled cottage garden, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

Upstairs, the generous principal bedroom benefits from an excellent range of fitted wardrobes and is served by a large, well-appointed bathroom with both a freestanding bath and a separate shower.

A second double bedroom is located on the ground floor and enjoys its own shower room, providing excellent flexibility for guests or family.

The walled garden is a particularly delightful feature, private, sheltered, and full of character. It provides the perfect setting for entertaining, relaxing or enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee and a book. A paved terrace sits beside the house, with a path leading to a lawn bordered by deep shrub and flower beds. To the rear, a decked seating area offers an ideal spot for alfresco drinks and sunny afternoons. Adjacent to the deck is a studio with power and lighting, perfectly suited as a home office, creative studio or peaceful retreat.

The location is both idyllic and practical. London is just under 100 miles away, while Peterborough, approximately 8 miles distant, offers fast and direct rail services to the capital. This makes Elton an ideal choice for commuters, weekenders or those seeking excellent connectivity without compromising on lifestyle.

Fireman’s Cottage presents a rare opportunity to acquire a home that combines historic village charm, a thriving community, countryside living and superb accessibility. A truly special property in one of the area’s most desirable villages.
Owners’ Viewpoint

“We have loved living in Fireman’s Cottage. Entertaining in the garden has been a joy, with atmospheric festoon lighting in both the courtyard and rear garden creating magical summer evenings. Our secluded, scented cottage garden is a haven for bees, birds and butterflies, which has brought us endless pleasure over the years. On hot days, it is wonderful to retreat into the coolness of the cottage itself.
Winter here is equally special. The cottage is warm and cosy with its wood-burning stove and underfloor heating, and Christmas is absolutely magical, with the character of the house creating a truly atmospheric setting.
Living in Elton is completely idyllic. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, there are endless walks on the doorstep, along with two wonderful character pubs, a garden centre, hairdressers, an excellent primary school and an amazing village shop that stocks everything you could need. Elton is a thriving, caring community and yet is within easy reach of Stamford, Oundle and Peterborough. It is a truly unique village with a timeless charm, a very special place to live.”
