Please don't judge this home just from the photos, take a few minutes to read the description, a description that will give you a little bit more of an insight into this homes family past.
Yes, you'll probably redecorate this house and change the carpet, but from my experience, even when you buy a brand-new home, you would still redecorate it anyway, because you want to make it yours, and until you've made some alterations, you'll never be able to say it is.
So try to imagine your colour scheme running throughout this house, as that will help build a picture very easily in your mind of what you can achieve from only spending a small amount of money in here!
Having been a family home for a good few decades, it's produced a happy family, with great family values, who have loved and cherished every moment here from a set of loving parents. This has all the ingredients to continue on making tremendous memories for the next family at Christmas, birthdays, Easter, Summer holidays...and all the other occasions that make such fond memories of family life.
If a house could pick the next owner, this one would want a young family, or a couple starting out together, with plans to create a family in the future. This is a home where the legacy wants to be passed over from the last owners, and the next to carry on the laughter and happiness that's been created over the many happy years that they've been settled here.
OK, looking at the photos, you may think it could do with some updating, and that all depends on how you want to look at it, and also what your budget will allow...for a small cost, especially if you do it yourself, a coat of paint and some new carpets would transform this house, with immediate effect.
For those with limited funds available, you can move in and be extremely happy, as it has everything that you'd want in order to enjoy life! So, let's take a good look throughout the home, and then you decide if 'it's a place you want to explore' in person.
Pulling up outside number 27, the beauty here is, if you have young children, then it's not a fast road, it's a road where many other similar families are growing up in the same position as you, trying to raise a young family and in safety too.
A low level brick wall creates a border to the front of your home and encloses an area of lawn, with a concrete driveway to the side that's capable of taking a few cars before leading us to the rear detached garage. If you needed more parking, you could always convert the grass area out front, but there is ample parking on the quiet road if you'd prefer.
A wooden door with glass panels welcomes us inside the home and into the bright and spacious hallway. This is a place for wet shoes and coats to be stored before we stride further inside. A staircase rises straight in front of us, leading to the first floor, obviously, with a set of glass-panelled wooden doors on our right that open into the lounge.
At around 17ft x 11.6ft, this is a larger than average lounge, easily capable of taking some of those trendy items of furniture that are so in fashion today, the corner sofa, with armchairs and any other items required. A large wall is crying out to have one of those massive flat screen TV's that we've all become so accustomed to, perfect for those cosy movie nights in. A fireplace takes centre stage with a real flame effect gas fireplace, although I'm sure you could turn it back to an original open fireplace or if you'd prefer, add one of those really lovely log-burners** that will set the mood for a romantic night in.. A large bay window sits at the head of the room, allowing natural light to flow in.
A door in the lounge opens to reveal a large understairs storage cupboard, very useful for all those things we need but just don't want out on show.....no I'm not talking about the In-Laws!!
** Please seek professional advice from someone who installs Log Burners before you purchase this home as there maybe restrictions - better safe than sorry, I always say.
Another of these lovely glass panelled wooden doors opens to reveal the dining room. Now, as time has moved along and we're running through the 21st Century, a lot of similar homes have removed this wall and opened up the lounge and brought it into the dining room. This creates a much larger place from which to enjoy this home, especially when entertaining.
But having said this, I'd keep it as it is, because the kitchen has been opened up already to create an open-plan vibe, as has the conservatory. What you now have is an ideal space to entertain friends and family while showcasing your culinary skills, and it still offers a separate space for other members of the family, who are not so sociable, to sit and unwind in their own space.
You can comfortably fit a dining table and chairs in the dining area, or even in the conservatory section. Now this is where, if you have a budget to make this even more special than it is, you could add a slate roof with perhaps a dome or lantern light. This would ensure that this room then becomes an all-year-round space, and not just for the days when it's not too hot or too cold, as it probably is now. Many windows offer views over the delightful enclosed rear garden, but again is crying out for modernisation, where a set of Bi-Fold doors could make this a real Al-Fresco location for your fine dining experiences.
The open-plan kitchen is located just off the dining area and through an archway that was opened up many years ago. Work surfaces adorn two walls and provide enough space for food preparation, as well as a place to house all of the many 21st Century gadgets that we've become so accustomed to. There's a large void for an American style fridge / freezer, as well as a place for the washing machine and oven. Yes, you may feel it could do with an update, but if your budget doesn't allow that, I'd say these kitchen cabinets still offers many more years of perfectly functional and happy use. A window looks out over the side of the home, again letting plenty of light in, with a glass panel rear door taking us outside.
The rear garden comprises of two sections, the first is a decent sized area of lawn, bordered along one side with a raised stone wall flowerbed playing home to some mature plants and shrubs.
The garage sits to one side, while wooden fencing runs along the other. A trellis sits across the middle of the lawn to create a section of 'secret garden' beyond.
This is a garden that children and adults will and have enjoyed, with a path running around to the rear. A garden shed, summer house sits at the far end, with a range of uses depending on requirements.
This rear garden is a private haven for sun lovers, a place to sit naked without fear of prying eyes.....come on, we've all thought about it!
Back inside and up the stairs, we come to the spacious landing, kept bright thanks to the large window located at the head of the staircase.
There are two good sized double bedrooms, capable of taking large double beds as well as other free standing pieces of furniture. Obviously, one is easily identifiable as the main, but the other is still a decent size, with the main difference being, what outlook you prefer, front or rear?
The third bedroom again is a decent sized single, and I'd say much larger than most modern homes provide, and I'd base this assumption on the period when this home was constructed, you know, when space wasn't necessarily set at a premium. A large storage cupboard provides a place for stuff, with more room still in here for some freestanding items of furniture.
Finally, at the top of the staircase, a door opens to the family bathroom. This hasn't been replaced in years and, once you see it, doesn't really need to be either.....unless you are that pressured into keeping up with the Joneses! It has everything that you'll need, and in the type of condition that I'm sure you'll agree, is perfectly able to do the job that's required. There's a panel bath with a glass shower screen protector as well as a handheld shower attachment. We have a pedestal wash hand basin, and of course the obligatory toilet, while not forgetting the frosted window, which means we don't need the light on constantly.
Before I leave, I haven't mentioned the detached garage. Built when cars were a lot smaller, it is capable of housing a car, but as most people tend to find now-a-days, cars are no longer made of sugar and can actually survive the elements outdoors, without being covered over. The garage is now a place for all the stuff we don't need or typically want, but are too afraid to throw away just in case we find a use for it in the future......and you and I both know, you won't! Or it's a place to tinker away and just make stuff.....you decide what suits!

All in all, this is a home that you can grow into, if you're not bothered about keeping up with the Joneses or Mrs Bucket, then you can comfortably live and carry on the happy vibe that's been created here for decades, because the most important thing is the happiness that can be provided by these four walls. The decor can be changed so that you feel you've had some input, and the rest can be done later on. The kitchen is perfectly adequate, the bathroom will continue to do as requested and do so without fail, and once you're settled, you can then work out what you really want to make this into your forever home, then and only then will you need to change it .....so give Berry and George a call today, it'll be the best thing you do all day...unless you're a film star, racing driver etc, in which case, it'll be the 2nd best thing you do!
